McDonald’s Releases New Cinnamoroll and Kuromi Happy Meals

McDonald’s Releases New Cinnamoroll and Kuromi Happy Meals

McDonald’s Japan is once again teaming up with Hello Kitty’s Sanrio, and this time, three fan-favorite mascots are taking center stage. Starting September 12, Happy Meals across Japan will include brand-new toys themed around Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, and My Melody. For collectors and casual fans alike, this drop promises to be one of the most exciting collaborations in recent memory.

However, McDonald’s is taking extra precautions with this launch. Past Sanrio Happy Meal lines were plagued by reselling issues, leaving many fans unable to get the items. To avoid a repeat, McDonald’s has announced stricter purchasing rules, including in-store and drive-thru exclusivity, along with limits on how many toys can be purchased at once.

Cinnamoroll Gets A Special Happy Meal Twist

Cinnamoroll’s Happy Meal isn’t just a simple toy, it’s a picture book that doubles as a mini activity set. Titled Let’s Play With Cinnamoroll, it includes puzzles, spot-the-difference games, riddles, and stickers. This marks the first time McDonald’s Japan has introduced a picture book in its Sanrio collaborations, giving fans something both fun and functional.

The inclusion of activities sets Cinnamoroll’s release apart from previous McDonald’s promotions. While plush toys and trinkets have always been staples, this book offers an interactive experience kids can enjoy beyond the initial excitement. Parents will likely appreciate the educational slant, making it a win for families and collectors alike.

Cinnamoroll’s lasting popularity also makes this release noteworthy. Often considered one of Sanrio’s most beloved mascots, the cheerful puppy continues to dominate polls and merchandising campaigns. By giving Cinnamoroll his own unique Happy Meal item, McDonald’s ensures this drop will appeal to longtime fans and younger audiences discovering him for the first time.

Kuromi & My Melody Take Over With the Cutest Collectibles

Alongside Cinnamoroll, My Melody and her mischievous rival Kuromi are starring in their own set of collectible toys. McDonald’s has broken this release into multiple waves, rolling out new items over several weeks. The first set highlights My Melody, with toys such as a character strap, a multi-purpose stand, and a foldable hair comb with a matching case.

The second phase shifts focus to Kuromi, bringing fans a mascot strap, a playful bubble blower, and a stationery set featuring both characters. There’s also a “mystery item” that won’t be revealed until launch, adding extra anticipation for collectors. Starting October 10, McDonald’s will make all toys from both waves available, while supplies last.

By staggering the release, McDonald’s not only builds excitement but also encourages repeat visits. Fans of Kuromi and My Melody are known for their dedication, and this drop plays directly into that loyalty. The range of practical items, from pouches to utensil sets, ensures these toys are both adorable and useful, elevating them beyond simple collectibles.

Sanrio collaborations have long been a staple of McDonald’s promotions worldwide, from Hello Kitty to Pompompurin. With this new Japan-exclusive line, McDonald’s proves once again that Happy Meals can be more than just food; they’re cultural events. Whether fans are team Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, or My Melody, this adorable release is bound to leave everyone smiling.
