Independent production firm Finite Films & TV has unveiled its next feature film, and it is a creative collaboration with Steven Cree, known for his roles in Outlander and Heads of State. The movie, Ben & Lucy, written by and starring Cree, will be directed by Cora Bissett (The Singer, I’d Like to Speak to the Manager, Pricker).
Set in Glasgow, the film follows middle-aged comedian and recovering alcoholic Ben and his estranged daughter Lucy, a troubled art student, who is falling into the same patterns of addiction. “Ben is desperate to show Lucy that he has changed and is no longer the unreliable father he once was,” reads a plot description. “But Lucy’s path of self-destruction leads them to both confront their pain and see how they can stop the cycle of havoc haunting them both.”
Cree is set to play Ben, while the casting for Lucy is yet to be unveiled. Actor Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty, 28 Weeks Later) is attached to play Dan, Ben’s sponsor. Stuart Martin (Army of Thieves, Jamestown, Miss Scarlet) is also attached and set to play an undisclosed role.
Ben & Lucy is produced by Finite Films founder Amy Gardner (And Then Come the Nightjars, My House, Honeytrap).

Cree has had a busy year. He featured in the recently released All of You, the science fiction romantic drama directed by William Bridges, starring Brett Goldstein, Imogen Poots, Zawe Ashton and Jenna Coleman, as well as in the upcoming I Swear, starring Robert Aramayo and directed by Kirk Jones, which follows the true story of a Tourette Syndrome campaigner.
Cree also features in the upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series Down Cemetery Road opposite Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, as well as stars in the upcoming drama Queen at Sea, the second feature from Lance Hammer, which stars Juliette Binoche.
