Mandalorian Star Does His Best R2D2 Impression In Funny Star Wars TikTok

Carl Weathers, actor and director on The Mandalorian, does his best impression of the beloved droid R2D2 in a hilarious Star Wars TikTok.

Carl Weathers, actor and director on The Mandalorian, shares his best R2D2 impression in a funny Star Wars TikTok. The highly successful live-action Star Wars series first debuted in November 2019 and has quickly become a favorite amongst viewers. Between the selfless heroics of titular character Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and the adorableness of his adopted son Grogu (Baby Yoda), the story has drawn in Star Wars and general audiences alike. The Mandalorian season 3 returns in February 2023 to hit audience’s screens for the first time since December 2020, despite Pascal’s character having a 3-episode stint in this year’s The Book of Boba Fett.

    SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Weathers made his Mandalorian debut as Nevarro magistrate Greef Karga in the first episode of the Star Wars series. Initially acting as a friend-turned-enemy for Mando, the actor’s performance changed his character’s fate and provided Greef with an arc that led to him being one of Mando’s most trusted allies by the end of season 1. Greef’s return in season 2 episode “Chapter 12: The Siege” also provided Weathers’ Star Wars directorial debut, an action-packed and story-developing installment that won him the chance to direct yet again in The Mandalorian season 3. What’s next for Greef and Nevarro following the destruction of the Imperial lab is as of yet unknown, but Weathers has assured viewers his next episode will be an even greater step-up from his work on season 2.

Now, Weathers has shared an arguably equally important addition to the Star Wars galaxy: an impression of R2D2. A TikTok shared by fanexpohq shows Weathers using a filter that assigns him a random Star Wars character. The actor is in the middle of an enthusiastic greeting assuring viewers he’ll receive his own Mandalorian characters when he cuts himself off upon getting Bo-Katan Kryze on his first attempt. He then tries it again and gets Han Solo, which still doesn’t satisfy Weathers. When his third attempt gives him R2D2, Weathers offers a shocked “R2D2?” before sharing a series of beeps to truly embody the beloved droid character. Weathers’ final attempt gives him Fennec Shand, encouraging him to assure viewers they know who he is and to tune in to The Mandalorian season 3 next year. The impression is actually quite good, a true testament to Weathers’ acting abilities. What’s funniest is Weathers landing 2 different Mandalorian characters that aren’t his own and providing commentary on each one. The only thing that beats out Weathers’ passion for The Mandalorian as a whole is his passion for Greef’s character and the impact he’s had on audiences, something that’s on full display in this lighthearted TikTok video. Thankfully for viewers, Greef will be returning in season 3 along with Weathers’ next directorial installment.

Weathers has joined fellow actors such as Pascal and Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff in teasing The Mandalorian season 3 as better, darker, and denser. With a journey to Mandalore now confirmed by exclusive footage shown at Star Wars Celebration, there’s no doubt the next season will be full of action. The story itself is jam-packed between Din’s own internal struggle with his transgressions against his Creed for removing his helmet as well as Bo-Katan’s desire for the ancient Mandalorian Darksaber that Din now possesses. Teases provided by cast and crew members such as Weathers himself promise what may be The Mandalorian‘s most ambitious season yet, which is set to return in just over half a year’s time.
