Democrat New York City mayor Eric Adams called out the federal government Tuesday, demanding financial support in dealing with an influx of illegal immigrants who are overrunning homeless shelters.
Adams said the massive influx is coming from the federal government, as well as from red states like Texas and Arizona, who are bussing them in.
“Currently, New York City is experiencing a marked increase in the number of asylum seekers who are arriving from Latin America and other regions,” he said in a statement, noting that nearly 3,000 people had entered shelters in the past few weeks.
“In some instances, families are arriving on buses sent by the Texas and Arizona governments, while in other cases, it appears that individuals are being sent by the federal government,” added Adams.
New York has been and will always be a city of immigrants that welcomes newcomers with open arms.
Our city has seen a sharp uptick in asylum seekers, and I am calling on the federal government to immediately send more resources. Read my full statement: pic.twitter.com/Qk77oj5MHb

Eric Adams Not Happy That Texas is Sending Illegal Immigrants to New York
A spokesman for the Democrat mayor of a sanctuary city, without a hint of irony, whined about the lack of “compassion” coming from those states sending illegal immigrants to New York City.

What could be more ‘compassionate’ than sending them to blue welfare cities where laws are ignored? Where criminals are allowed to roam free? In fact, Eric Adams’ spokesperson reiterates the belief that New York City has a “moral” duty to accept illegal immigrants into the shelters.
“If they need financial help, they should ask for it instead of heartlessly sending asylum seekers on their way with a one-way ticket,” the spokesperson said of the governors of Texas and Arizona.
“In New York City, we have a legal and moral mandate to provide shelter to everyone who needs it, and will continue to fulfill that mandate, but, as we have said, we urgently need federal support to help us do so,” they added.
“New York City needs additional federal resources immediately,” Adams implored.
Do you know what might also work? Closing the border while this country is currently unable to tend to its own citizens, let alone those who cross into the United States illegally. Just spit-balling ideas here.
Well, you have a “sanctuary city”, so deal with it @NYCMayor

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser Unhappy Too
Eric Adams’ complaints about asylum seekers overrunning the homeless shelters in his city follow equivalent remarks from Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Bowser similarly pointed the finger at states like Texas and claimed the illegal immigrants are being “tricked” into getting on the busses heading into her city.
“Well, this is a very significant issue,” Bowser said. “We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses.”
The D.C. mayor called for “a coordinated federal response” while insisting “local taxpayers are not picking up the tab.”
They want the illegal immigration, and they want someone else to deal with the consequences.

Ah, that moment when you realize your sanctuary city policies are the problem, right?
Texas Governor Greg Abbott tore Bowser apart for daring to complain about the fruits of her and President Biden’s policies.
“With our nation’s capital now experiencing a fraction of the disaster created by President Biden’s reckless open border policies that our state faces every single day, maybe he’ll finally do his job and secure the border,” a spokeswoman for his office replied.
We won’t hold our breath any time soon. But if Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, or any of the Democrats who staged photo-ops in the past there would like to visit the border again and maybe see the crisis for themselves, we would applaud the effort.
