10 Best Skills And Abilities For Robin, Ranked

After years of waiting, fans can finally experience Gotham Knights to the fullest, being able to play as one of Batman’s four proteges, including Robin, the most famous character mantle associated with the Dark Knight.

Like all the characters in the game, Robin has a particular set of skills that fit his style of gameplay. For him, that style focuses on stealth and distraction. As such, may of his skills and abilities revolve around stealthy movement and ambushes. However, some of Robin’s skills are better than others. For those wanting to play as Robin, here are 10 skills and abilities that should be a priority to unlock.

    SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

    Slideways

If Robin should find himself in trouble or just needs to get to a better position, Slideways can help him pull this off easily. Slideways allows Robin to open a portal and teleport himself.

This skill is great for getting Robin to a better, stealthier position and could potentially also be used to get himself out of a tight spot. The Slideways ability can even be used, upon acquiring the Slideways Takedown skill, to takedown enemies while in stealth, making it an even better and cooler skill to unlock quickly.

    Vantage Hanging Takedown

Gotham Knights Robin beating down a thug

Though Gotham Knights differs from the Arkhamverse in many ways, Robin’s Vantage Hanging Takedown skill lets players copy a well known gameplay mechanic from the hit series.

With this skill, Robin can perform overhead takedowns that will suspend enemies from vantage points. This is a key skill to unlock, as it allows Robin to add another stealthy takedown skill to his arsenal while making players feel like they’re playing as Batman in doing so. With the amount of vantage points that Robin has access to, having this skill unlocked will make life easier for players early on.

    Turnabout Takedown

Image of Robin facing a Bruiser Freak in Gotham Knights. The confrontation is taking place against a starry backdrop in an urban park.

When traveling through the best versions of Gotham City in video games and fighting enemies, players will often find that larger enemies can be difficult to defeat, especially when they are assisted by swarms of other enemies. But Turnabout Takedown allows Robin deal with this annoyance much better than the other characters.

With Turnabout Takedown, Robin uses takedowns and stealth strikes on larger enemies, letting him dispatch and hinder them quicker than others. As anyone that has played the games in the Arkhamverse knows, giant enemies are annoying to deal with, as they often need special, uninterrupted actions to defeat them. Turnabout Takedown, however, skips that step and takes them down without any effort.

    Cloak

At times, Robin can be cornered and surrounded by enemies where his only option is to escape or hide. Using the Cloak momentum ability allows this to be implemented perfectly.

When using Cloak, Robin can make himself undetectable to enemies and security systems, allowing him to move unhindered throughout areas. This ability can also be activated when perched or hanging. This allows Robin to position himself strategically within a combat area before revealing himself and clearing the room.

Moving through areas trying to sneak up on enemies can be troublesome, especially when the thugs seem to be able to hear the tiniest footstep. Robin’s Light Footed skill lessens the chance of being discovered via the sound of footsteps.

Once unlocked, Light Footed eliminates all sound from Robin’s running and increases his crouching speed. While this does not apply to sprinting, having no sound from running certainly helps Robin to keep his stealth status in place. The longer that Robin can stay undetected, the easier he can eliminate enemies without anyone noticing until it’s too late.

    Evade Decoy

    Gotham-Knights-Robin-1

Robin may be focused on stealth as his main style of gameplay, but another part of his gameplay is using distractions to draw the attention of enemies in order to strike down foes in the back. Evade Decoy is a key part of using distraction to his advantage.

When using this momentum ability, Robin evades an attack and creates a clone of himself that draws enemies to it, but vanishes when struck by an attack. With this ability in his arsenal, Robin can distract enemies briefly, allowing him to strike them in the back as they go to attack the decoy. Given that Robin also has skills that increase damage when striking enemies in the back, that makes this ability even more valuable.

    Bo Spin

Robin’s bo staff is one of the best weapons in Gotham Knights, and his Bo Spin ability just makes it an even greater weapon for Robin to have.

Using Bo Spin, Robin deflects projectiles while spinning his bo staff around and dealing damage to those around him. Not only does this protect Robin from long ranged attacks, but it also helps him out when surrounded by enemies, which players often will be when playing the game. Having this important area of effect power ready to go will be a positive asset for anyone at any point in the game.

    Shadow Renewal

Recovering health is important in Gotham Knights, especially when losing health fast in combat. With Shadow Renewal, Robin can regain health quickly as long as he’s able to use takedowns.

Shadow Renewal heals Robin for 25% health upon a successful takedown. Given that Robin’s playstyle allows him multiple opportunities to perform takedowns in any sort of combat situation, this skill is invaluable to have, especially when health packs are few and there seems to be no end in sight for the enemies closing in for the kill.

    Reduced Visual Stim

A great tip for beginners to Gotham Knights is to remain undetected for as long as possible in order to get those great silent takedowns or aggressive takedowns quickly and efficiently. Robin can pull this off with even greater effect with Reduced Visual Stim.

When this skill is unlocked, it takes enemies longer to spot and notice Robin, making him even stealthier than before. As mentioned before, stealth is key to Robin’s gameplay, so remaining undetected for as long as possible is critical when playing as him. Luckily, with Reduced Visual Stim, staying undetected in almost plain sight has never been easier.

    Stealth Takedown +

Robin flipping through the air in Gotham Knights (2022)

As those who have played Robin no doubt have learned, he has many takedown abilities that can easily help him breeze through an encounter. To capitalize on all these takedowns, players should definitely invest in Stealth Takedown +.

With Stealth Takedown +, Robin’s damage, critical chance, defense, and elemental build up increases for 15 seconds after performing a takedown ability. So, even if a takedown ability gives Robin’s position away, he can punish the enemies that come after him with increased damage and chance to land critical blows for a short time, ensuring his survival no matter what. And given by just how many takedown abilities he has, the chances that this skill can and will come into play multiple times in a combat encounter is high.
