“Fourth Wing” Meets “The Hunger Games” in Debut Dark Romantasy Trilogy

    Direbound by Sable Sorensen

This romantasy has it all: a badass heroine, intense action and a love story you won’t soon forget.

Within the first few pages, I knew I was going to love Direbound by Sable Sorensen. This book — the first in a new romantasy trilogy — gripped me early on and didn’t let go.

Direbound has all the best romantasy tropes: slow-burn romance, enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, “who did this to you?” and so much more. And if you like a unique spin on vampires vs. werewolves — you need this book!

What It Takes to Bond with a Direwolf

The country may be waging a centuries-long war against their blood-thirsty neighbors, but for poor street fighter Meryn, nothing’s more important than her little sister. So when her sister is stolen one night, kidnapped by the very vampiric forces that threaten their border, Meryn enlists in the army so she can cross the frontlines and find her.

There’s only one problem … this year, there are Bonding Trials, and every new recruit is required to risk their lives in an attempt to bond with a direwolf. Meryn just wants to survive and make it out unbonded — but Anassa, one of the oldest direwolves in the pack, has other ideas.

    Romance, Friendship and Dark Secrets

As a newly Bonded, Meryn must learn to connect to Anassa. If not, she won’t survive long. But Anassa seems intent on shutting Meryn out.

Living with her new pack in the Bonded wing of the castle, Meryn feels like the odd man out. In order to prove her worth to the group, she must face a series of deadly tests with her packmates, forming unexpected bonds along the way — and continually earning the ire of her gorgeous yet deadly instructor, Stark Therion.

All the while, the castle is hiding dark secrets, and Meryn starts to wonder if she’s losing her mind. Only one person is on her side, providing her with the comfort she secretly craves — but is even he hiding secrets from her?

    Captivating Fantasy, Memorable Romance

Direbound is brimming with tension that continually left me on the edge of my seat, from the steep mountain cliffs and raging battlefront to the castle’s extravagant halls and winding servant tunnels.

The action scenes are seamless, the worldbuilding captivating. Readers will find themselves holding their breath during the brutal fight scenes and swooning during the book’s more intimate moments. And oh my god — the spice is spicin’!

In this, their debut work, author duo Sable Sorensen has proven their skill in character development. Meryn and Anassa are a complex and flawed duo, and readers will love to watch them grow as individuals and as a team. And Stark … readers are sure to wonder what secrets he’s hiding behind his dark scowl.

Devour It Quickly in Time for the Sequel!

The story boasts some exciting twists and dark secrets. Sorensen handles these revelations perfectly, giving the readers just enough clues to leave them begging for more and making wild guesses until the very last moment. I found myself gasping, jumping up and pacing multiple times, so eager to get to the end and find out the truth.

Suffice it to say, I absolutely love Direbound. I couldn’t put this book down and ended up devouring it in a single weekend! This romantasy has it all: a badass heroine, intense action and a love story you won’t soon forget. I can’t wait for the sequel!

Sable Sorensen writes spicy dark romantasy and is thrilled to have launched her debut novel, Direbound, this year (book 2 coming this summer!). Sable is the pen name of two good friends and fantasy fangirls who teamed up to write books that feature strong heroines, spicy romances, and the never-ending fight between those in power and those who would defend the weak and vulnerable.
