What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write A Girl Named Ghost?
The inspiration for A Girl Named Ghost came to me in an unconventional way, as most of my stories do. It all started with the title.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of A Girl Named Ghost, what would they be?
After reading this question, the first song that came to mind was “Little Ghost” by The White Stripes and now it’s an earworm for rest of the day.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I’m a fan of Horror and Dark Fiction. My love for horror began when I would read Edgar Allen Poe’s tales with my pet Crow, Big Fellow, perched on my shoulder. While I am a huge admirer of horror writers in general, I must admit that Clive Barker is the one who truly inspired me to become a writer myself. As luck would have it, I’m also among the small percentage of adults who experience night terrors, which often serves as a source of inspiration for my writing.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
When it comes to my list of beloved characters, Grandma June or Juniper White takes the top spot. Writing the scene where she storms over to her neighbor’s house in pursuit of her missing chocolate herbal tea was incredibly enjoyable. Grandma June has no sense of boundaries. She firmly believes that her way is the only way, and she will stop at nothing to prove her point.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I have a lot of quirks, but when it comes to writing, all I need is a quiet spot with my laptop.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
There are countless quotes about the art of writing, but the one that resonates with me is, “I firmly believe a story is only as good as its villain.” – Clive Barker
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
My goal is for readers to leave the book with lasting impressions of my characters, keeping them in their thoughts long after they’ve finished reading.
