10 Best MCU Moments Of 2024, Ranked

As 2024 comes to a close, a look back at all the Marvel Cinematic Universe projects released this year reveals that some moments were more impactful than others. 2024 was an atypical year for the MCU. Due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which caused industry-wide delays, and some internal restructuring at Marvel, the MCU only released Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters. However, the film has become one of the MCU’s best movies, featuring many exciting moments.

Aside from multiple entries from Deadpool & Wolverine, the list of best 2024 MCU moments also includes key events from the Marvel Studios TV series that were released this year. The MCU’s 2025 movies and shows will have a hard time topping some of these moments, as Marvel Studios managed to have a fantastic year despite the delays the franchise had to deal with. Before next year’s anticipated MCU movies and shows arrive, here are the 10 best MCU moments of 2024.

    10

    Wolverine’s Car Monologue

Hugh Jackman – Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine already starts the list with one of the most impactful and emotional moments of the MCU movie. Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine has often taken an action-first approach, with the character not speaking much. However, one of his finest moments in the MCU movie, and truthfully, of Jackman’s whole career as Logan, came from the character letting loose of a monologue that had his words hurt Deadpool more than his claws.

    X-Men Movies In Release Order

    X-Men (2000)

    X2: X-Men United (2003)

    X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

    X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

    X-Men: First Class (2011)

    The Wolverine (2013)

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

    Deadpool (2016)

    X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

    Logan (2017)

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

    Dark Phoenix (2019)

    The New Mutants (2020)

    Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

In the scene, Wolverine completely obliterates Deadpool with his speech. The monologue includes Wolverine saying that Deadpool not being able to die was a joke God played on everyone else, as well as claiming he will never save the world because Wade Wilson could not even save his relationship with a stripper, disrespecting Vanessa. The moment shows Jackman’s dramatic skills, and it features Ryan Reynolds’ favorite lines he wrote in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Lilia Calderu Finally Understands Her Visions

Patti LuPone – Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along had many mysteries to unfold during its nine episodes. One of the biggest of them was the nature of Lilia Calderu’s visions. The witch always had the ability to see flashes of the future, but as she never understood her powers, she was doomed to live a life divided in half. Many moments of Lilia’s life were missing as she blacked out, and she could never really make sense of her visions.

Agatha All Along episode 7, “Death’s Hand in Mine,” was focused on Lilia Calderu. Patti LuPone gave an emotional performance as Lilia finally understood her calling, helping save her coven and dying to finally live on through the parts of her past that she had missed due to blacking out. The reveal was sad and poetic, but it made for Lilia’s perfect ending and paid off her visions of the future from previous Agatha All Along episodes.

    8

Gambit Is Going To Make A Name For Himself

Channing Tatum – Deadpool & Wolverine

Channing Tatum’s Gambit stole every scene he was in Deadpool & Wolverine. Tatum’s situation is one of the most heartwarming in the MCU. The actor was cast as Gambit in 2014. After a decade of trying to make his solo Gambit movie work, Tatum had all but given up on playing his favorite superhero. However, Ryan Reynolds convinced Marvel Studios and called the actor to finally let Tatum appear as Gambit.

What ensued was likely beyond Tatum and Marvel’s wildest dreams. He became the standout character of Deadpool & Wolverine, and Tatum’s Gambit was at the center of a viral meme. In the scene where Gambit is finally allowed to let loose and show off his powers against Cassandra Nova’s army, the character speaks in a thick accent, saying, “Wooimabouttomakeanameformyselfhere.” It was hilarious and Gambit’s most talked about moment.

    7

The Human Torch’s Rant About Cassandra Nova

Chris Evans – Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s biggest surprise return was that of Chris Evans as the Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm. The character was part of a few scenes in the MCU movie, and it was his final appearance in the film that contributed to the funniest MCU moment of 2024. Cassandra Nova mercilessly killed Johnny Storm after Deadpool told her that the Human Torch had gone off about how much he hated her in an explicit rant.

Chris Evans’ Perfect Avengers: Doomsday Role Would Allow Him To Come Back To The MCU For Good

Chris Evans’ Avengers: Doomsday return could feature a perfect twist that allows the actor to stay in the MCU for good after the movie.

Wolverine tells Deadpool to shut up, and Johnny Storm claims he did not say any of that, but he was killed all the same. Deadpool & Wolverine‘s post-credits scene then revealed that Wade Wilson was not lying. Chris Evans appeared as Johnny Storm tied up and blasting Cassandra Nova with all kinds of insults in a very R-rated rant that Deadpool and Wolverine witness, a moment which Evans said had to stay in the script for him to be in Deadpool & Wolverine.

    6

Rio Vidal Is Revealed To Be Lady Death

Aubrey Plaza – Agatha All Along

Aubrey Plaza’s casting as the mysterious Rio Vidal was already exciting. However, Agatha All Along had a very special twist reserved for her character that would suddenly turn her into one of the MCU’s coolest additions in the Multiverse Saga. Rio Vidal spent most of the show known as a powerful and unpredictable green witch from Agatha’s past who once had a romantic relationship with Kathryn Hahn’s character.

Agatha All Along slowly teased that there was more to Rio. Finally, it was revealed that Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal was actually Death herself, serving as the MCU’s version of Marvel Comics’ Lady Death. This made her the most powerful character on the show and someone who could simply not be stopped. The reveal was exciting, putting previous moments of the series in a new light and giving a major final antagonist to the show.

    5

The Members Of The Void’s Resistance Are Revealed

Multiple Stars – Deadpool & Wolverine

As one of the biggest events in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, Deadpool & Wolverine did a phenomenal job of including cameos and supporting roles for actors from previous Marvel films. Even new MCU stars like Henry Cavill got a chance to appear as a Marvel character through the multiverse in the film. To take down Cassandra Nova, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s mutants had to team up with Deadpool & Wolverine‘s multiverse characters.

They were part of the Resistance fighting Cassandra Nova in the Void. The moment the members of the team were revealed is probably among those that elicited one of the loudest theater reactions in the MCU. The members of the team slowly came onscreen, each getting their own moment, and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, and Dafne Keen’s X-23 were excellent choices.

    4

Teen Is Revealed To Be Billy Maximoff

Joe Locke – Agatha All Along

Before it was revealed that Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal was Lady Death, Agatha All Along had another major moment. Joe Locke’s Teen spent a good chunk of the MCU series with his identity hidden from the rest of his coven. The Disney+ Marvel show then revealed that he had powers, with Teen actually being none other than Billy Maximoff, one of the Scarlet Witch and Vision’s twins from WandaVision.

Not only was the moment where Billy’s identity was revealed impactful due to him seemingly killing the other witches in his coven at the time, but also because he wore a crown that was just like Wanda Maximoff’s, his mother. After that, the following episode of the series explained how he reincarnated in the body of William Kaplan as he died, with Billy Maximoff having to settle into a new life and family.

    3

Chris Evans’ MCU Return As Johnny Storm

Chris Evans – Deadpool & Wolverine

Alongside Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans is one of the faces of the MCU. After the actor left the franchise in 2019 with the release of Avengers: Endgame, Evans has spoken many times about how hard it would be for him to return as Captain America. However, when asked about playing Johnny Storm thanks to the multiverse, Evans was instantly game. That would materialize in Deadpool & Wolverine, where Evans’ MCU return was the film’s biggest surprise.

Chris Evans’ Avengers: Doomsday Return Can Finally Undo A Bucky Problem I Thought Could Never Be Fixed

Following a major Steve Rogers update, Chris Evans’ Avengers: Doomsday return could lead to the MCU finally solving a Bucky Barnes problem.

The Deadpool movie handled the moment perfectly. Evans’ distinct voice is heard first, with the actor then appearing with a cloak. Still, red and blue costume details on his suit could be seen, leading to the belief that he was either the original Captain America or a multiverse variant of him. However, Deadpool & Wolverine subverts expectations and has Evans shout, “Flame On!” Revealing himself to be the Human Torch in a hilarious and epic moment.

    2

Hugh Jackman Finally Wears The Wolverine Cowl

Hugh Jackman – Deadpool & Wolverine

The final Deadpool & Wolverine moment on the list had to come from one of the MCU movie’s title characters. Hugh Jackman first played Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men. In nearly 24 years, the actor had never once worn Wolverine’s iconic yellow and blue costume from Marvel Comics in Fox’s X-Men franchise. Thankfully, Kevin Feige and the MCU decided it was high time that mistake was fixed.

Jackman’s Wolverine wears his comic book-accurate suit for most of the movie. However, its final piece would only come near the end of the film. The moment Wolverine pulls out his cowl to complete his comic book-accurate look is one of the best in MCU and live-action Marvel history. It is a coronation of everything Jackman has done as Logan, with the cowl looking amazing and Wolverine having it on for every action scene from that moment forward.

Robert Downey Jr. Is Announced As Doctor Doom

Robert Downey Jr. – San Diego Comic-Con 2024

Finally, the best MCU moment of 2024 happens to be the only one that did not happen onscreen. Marvel Studios has always made a splash at San Diego Comic-Con by bringing the franchise’s biggest announcements to Hall H. 2024 was no different, and with the uncertainty about the MCU’s direction after the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, Kang the Conqueror, was scrapped following Jonathan Majors’ firing, the MCU announced its replacement in style.

Alongside a legion of people dressed as Doctor Doom, Robert Downey Jr. walked to the front of the SDCC stage and removed his hood and mask to reveal that he had returned to the MCU to play Victor von Doom in at least the next two Avengers movies. As the man who started the franchise back in 2008, Robert Downey Jr.’s return to it has to be the biggest and best MCU moment of 2024.
