All The Rumors & Leaks In One Place

It’s unclear when the Tesla Cybertruck will be released, but there’s still a lot of information available to get an idea of what the EV will be like.

It’s unclear when Tesla customers will get their hands on the Cybertruck, but there have been many rumors about this highly anticipated electric vehicle. Since Tesla first announced the electric truck, many other car brands have developed their own versions. As a result, the Cybertruck is facing a lot of competition as it’s still being created. Consumers can choose from Ford’s F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Rivian R1T, the Hummer EV and more are in the works.

Despite falling behind, people are still excited about Tesla’s upcoming truck. The company capitalized on this by releasing a Cybertruck Whistle that fans can buy for $50. Mattel also released a toy version of the car that cost $100 and reached up to 12 mph. So, while the Cybertruck hasn’t hit the market yet, people are excited about it.

Tesla’s Cybertruck has been delayed numerous times over the last three years, but Elon Musk said at the Cyber Rodeo event in April 2022 that the electric truck will go into production in 2023. It’s hard to say if that will come to fruition, given the multiple delays, but that’s the latest launch date. As of late 2021, the prices were reported as $39,900 for the Single Motor RWD, $49,900 for the Dual Motor AWD and $69,900 for the Tri-Motor. There is no reported information on the price for the Quad Motor yet. Unfortunately, there is also no pricing information on the official Tesla Cybertruck page. However, consumers can pre-order the vehicle by paying $100. All they need to do is enter their credit card information, name, email address, phone number and zip code.

    The Cybertruck’s Futuristic Design

There’s an image on the website that shows that the back of the truck can be converted into a sunroof and there are multiple shelves for versatility, but there is not much description for this. The website also showcased a blurry view of the inside that seats six passengers with black seats. It adds that there is additional storage under the second-row seats. It’s a little different than the prototype that showed up at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) factory in Moss Landing, Calif, in June 2022. The seats are more of a dullish grey. The example on the website shows a marble dashboard compared to the prototype’s basic car dashboard. Most of the images on the website are a little blurry, so it’s unclear how accurate these depictions will be of the anticipated vehicle.

Higher Cybertruck Trims Get Great Mileage

There is not much information about the Cybertruck’s battery, but Tesla confirmed it would come with a 250-kW charging cable. As for the mileage, there is no official announcement, but the Tri-Motor is expected to get 500 miles on a single charge and Dual Motor 300 miles. That’s pretty impressive, given that the Model S has a range of 405 miles. For the other EV trucks on the market, the Ford F-150 Lightning gets an estimated 230 miles on a single charge, and the Hummer EV gets 350 miles. So, if the high-class Cybertrucks get their estimated mileage, that will be great for consumers. Unfortunately, the entry-level leaves a lot to be desired at an estimated 250 miles.

Cybertruck Has Impressive Towing Capacity & Performance

The Single Motor model has a pretty good towing capacity of 7,500 lbs. The Dual Motor goes up to 10,000 lbs and the Tri-Motor up to 14,000+ lbs. The Tri-Motor can also go up to 130 mph and go from zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds. The other two models are not quite as powerful. No information is available on speed, but the Single Motor can go from zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds and the Dual Motor in 4.5 seconds. In addition, Musk tweeted in Dec. 2021 that the Cybertruck would get the CrabWalk feature. The Hummer EV has this feature, enabling the vehicle to turn on the spot like a tank.

    Cybertruck To Get Tesla Vision

    Inside Tesla Cybertruck

It was speculated in April 2022 that Samsung is working on cameras for Tesla’s Autopilot. The contract doesn’t name the EV company but says the largest EV maker in the U.S, which was true of the brand at the time. The company is also transitioning its radar system to a Tesla Vision camera system. The system is already in the Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. It’s expected that the Cybertruck will get this system too. It should, of course, get the most up-to-date features for the Full Self-Driving beta.

A Lot Of Hype But Not Much Is Known

With all of the delays, it’s hard to know when the Cybertruck will hit the market and what precisely the end product will be. However, despite the uncertainty of the release, there have been almost 1.5 million pre-orders as of May 2022. Unfortunately, consumers can only order the truck in the U.S. All other countries have paused ordering because it has exceeded expectations.

At this point, there is no way of knowing if the EV will meet expectations since not much has been confirmed. Even the Cybertruck page has little detail. Musk has also announced that there will be a Quad-Motor model, but even fewer details are available on this trim, even though he claimed that this one would go into production first. Tesla is great at customer satisfaction, though. Tesla is the top-rated car brand by consumers in the U.S. and Europe. The Model 3 is also the top-rated model. So, while Musk and his engineers are still trying to develop the Cybertruck, he will likely release something that his customers like.
