Lobo has started to garner a lot more attention since the announcement that he will be making his DCU debut in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, with Jason Momoa slated to play the Main Man. Keen-eyed fans may recognize Momoa from playing Aquaman in his last film outings, and Lobo himself foreshadowed this casting choice prior to it becoming a reality.
DC’s Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun #1 is a fun-filled Halloween anthology from 2023, in which various DC heroes and villains take part in spooky adventures befitting the season. In “Happy Hal(Lobo)ween” by Hans Rodinoff, Adam F. Goldberg, and Danny Earls, Lobo decides to attend a Halloween party dressed as none other than Aquaman.
Lobo’s Halloween costume serves as a clever nod towards Jason Momoa playing both Lobo and Aquaman in live action, and the story takes the joke even further by stressing how alike the two seemingly opposite characters are – long before they were actually portrayed by the same actor.

Lobo’s Aquaman Costume Reveals They’re the Spitting Image of Each Other
Lobo wears his Aquaman costume at the request of his daughter, Crush, after he’s already tried on other wacky costumes. When Lobo dons his heroic outfit, he isn’t sure he can pass as Aquaman, but Crush reassures him by saying, “You could literally be his twin.” Within the comics themselves, the two characters are far too different for this to be feasible, but their shared live-action casting makes Crush’s line surprisingly accurate. Crush even goes as far as to suggest that Lobo could easily be mistaken for the real Aquaman in his costume, and she’s soon proven right about that.

Let’s Face It: Lobo Is DC’s Own Deadpool, And He Does It Better
Hear me out: the argument can be made that not only is Lobo DC’s version of Deadpool, he’s actually the original, better version of the character.
On his way to the party, Lobo gets confronted by King Shark, who addresses him as if he’s Aquaman. When Lobo tries to clarify his true identity, King Shark insists that he recognizes Aquaman when he sees him. Crush’s steadfast belief that Lobo could be confused with Aquaman comes to fruition here, as Lobo plays along with King Shark and pretends to be the iconic Justice League hero. Lobo acting like Aquaman is a hilarious way to reference Aquaman’s actor going on to play him, alluding to the DCU casting that’s only just been unveiled to the public.

Lobo and Aquaman Canonically Look Alike, In Real Life and in the Comics
A comic predicting Lobo’s casting in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow a year before its announcement may sound unbelievable, but there was plenty of evidence that Jason Momoa would be cast as Lobo once rumors began to surface back in 2023. Coincidence or not, Lobo’s surprisingly accurate Aquaman cosplay proves that the two are much more similar in appearance than DC fans expected. If Lobo can be mistaken for the King of Atlantis when donning his signature orange suit, then there’s a chance that Aquaman might one day return the favor and give Lobo’s outfit a whirl – just to see if he can get away with it, too.
