Becky Lynch, who appears in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, is melting down online about losing the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. At WWE Elimination Chamber in Chicago on February 28th, AJ Lee defeated Lynch for the prize that Star Trek‘s social media dubbed the “Intergalactic Championship.”
Billed as Rebecca Quin, her real name, Becky Lynch plays Lieutenant MacKenzie Ya in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. A member of Captain Nahla Ake’s (Holly Hunter) USS Athena bridge crew, Ya debuted in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy‘s series premiere. Mackenzie returned in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy episode 4.

The next night, Lynch walked the red carpet at Star Trek: Starfleet Academy‘s world premiere in New York City with her newly minted “Intergalactic Championship” belt.

However, Lynch has also been a stellar ambassador for Star Trek; she has consistently hyped Starfleet Academy online, and Becky’s presence as Intercontinental Champion ensured Star Trek was mentioned on WWE programming.

Lynch filmed a vlog from her final days on set in her WWE persona while backstage prepping to play her Star Trek character. It’s striking how different the egomanical Becky Lynch is from Starfleet Officer Lt. Ya, which speaks to Rebecca Quin’s talent and versatility.
The Man is one of the biggest stars in WWE, and it’s logical to assume that it’s only a matter of time until Becky Lynch regains her title from AJ Lee to become a three-time WWE “Intergalactic Champion.” Hopefully, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 will develop Lieutenant Ya’s character and allow Becky Lynch to shine even more.
