Bug-Off is a special event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons every summer. Help Flick and play Bug-Off to earn exclusive Animal Crossing rewards.
The Bug-Off event is happening again in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for summer 2022. For the past two years, players have had the opportunity to play Bug-Off with the bug-loving character Flick and this year is no different. For a single Saturday or Sunday in each month of summer, players can earn points that can be traded in for exclusive summertime items, and even earn trophies depending on how well they perform.
Flick is a fan favorite reoccurring character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He will appear on random days to the island and offer to purchase bugs from the player for 1.5x as much as they normally sell for. Players can also submit bugs to Flick and he will turn them into neat replica models.
This Summer is no different and Flick is hosting the classic game of Bug-Off, a bug-catching competition, on the player’s island. Players can find Flick appearing on their islands in front of Resident Services every fourth Saturday in the Northern Hemisphere and every third Saturday in the Southern Hemisphere.
Animal Crossing’s Bug-Off (Dates, Times, and Rewards)
Here are all the specific dates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bug-Off for 2022.
- Northern Hemisphere: June 25th, July 30th, August 27th, September 24th
- Southern Hemisphere: November 19th, December 17th, January 21st, February 18th
These dates and times are not time-locked and can be accessed through Animal Crossing time travel methods.
Players can participate in Bug-Off for the first time for free, after that, the player will need to pay 500 Bells. Flick will appear on the island these days from 6 am to 9 pm and task the player with catching as many bugs as quickly as possible within 3 minutes. Each bug is worth a single point and these points can be traded in as sets of 10 for random prizes.

As a bonus, if players earn over a certain amount of points they will be rewarded with a trophy in their Animal Crossing mailbox the next day. 100 points for a bronze trophy, 200 points for a silver trophy, and 300 points for the gold trophy.
