Between Campfire Cooking’s modest isekai success and Chainsaw Man’s international movie release, MAPPA is enjoying plenty of success. This keeps the prestige of their studio’s brand stoked, especially as fans continue to wait both for Jujutsu Kaisen’s new movie and, ultimately, season 3.
But Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is a genuinely fun anime to watch beyond its various gimmicks. Mukohda being able to entice familiars like the gluttonous Fenrir and adorable companions like Dora-chan the Pixie Dragon and Sui the slime. It smartly subverts the usual overpowered protagonist trope, while still giving him a unique edge.
While anime like Gachiakuta are a great success story for new-gen anime topping the charts, and My Hero Academia is close behind, enjoying its swan song, shows like Campfire Cooking demonstrate the sillier side of Crunchyroll. It’s an immense catalog, and aside from prompting viewers to do some online shopping, this isekai treat is just pure fun.
