Kindling is one of the materials needed to upgrade the Solstice Candescent armor in Destiny 2, and it can only be obtained during the event.
Throughout the Solstice event this year in Destiny 2, Kindling is one of the materials that Guardians will need to get their hands on frequently if they want to upgrade their Candescent armor to its Fully Rekindled state. Every year, the Solstice event changes ever so slightly while retaining some of the features that players have come to know and love, like the EAZ. Kindling is a new material that, alongside Silver Leaves and Silver Ash, will only be available to earn throughout the duration of Solstice. Once the event ends on Aug 9, players will have to wait another full year before they can get their hands on Solstice armor again.
Kindling is just one of the components needed to upgrade the Solstice armor in Destiny 2, and the other two are the Silver Leaves and Silver Ash currencies. Obtaining both the Silver Leaves and Silver Ash materials is slightly more linear than obtaining Kindling, though it isn’t necessarily more difficult to obtain the latter. In fact, obtaining more Kindling sometimes requires Guardians to first obtain a specific amount of Silver Leaves or Silver Ash, which helps keep the process of getting all three easier to manage.
After logging in for the first time during the 2022 Solstice event, Guardians may have noticed their brand new Event Card with 24 different hidden challenges. While they remain hidden at first, these challenges are the only source of Kindling for Guardians during Solstice. To unlock the Solstice Event Card challenges, speak with Eva Levante in the Tower to begin the Celebrating Solstice quest. This questline has eight easy-to-complete steps that shouldn’t take Guardians more than 20 minutes to finish up. Afterward, all of the Event Challenges will be visible at once, and Guardians can complete them in any order they want.
How To Get More Kindling In Destiny 2
Because the Kindling material can only be obtained through the Event Challenges, Guardians will need to diligently work on every challenge as quickly as possible to earn full upgrades for the helmet, gauntlet, chest, and leg armor pieces. The class item is the only piece that doesn’t require any of the three currencies to upgrade and can be Masterworked normally. However, Masterworking the Solstice class armor piece will complete the Apex Armorer week six challenge in Season of the Haunted, and it can easily be incorporated into any builds that players had previously created before receiving their Solstice armor.
The best way to complete all of the Event Challenges in Destiny 2 quickly is by tackling the ones that are part of the same activity. For example, there are a couple of Bonfire Bash challenges that can be completed at the same time. Additionally, some of these Solstice Event Challenges require players to collect Silver Leaves, so it may be a good idea to prioritize those challenges first.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
