A new Fast X clip teases John Cena and Jason Momoa squaring off, but not with their fists. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the tenth main installment in the Fast & Furious franchise premieres May 19 and follows Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) as he attempts to protect his family from Dante Reyes (Momoa). In addition to Cena and Momoa, the cast of Fast X includes Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Charlize Theron, and Brie Larson.
A recent clip shared by IGN reveals more about Dante’s plans in Fast X and teases a fight between him and Jakob (Cena).
The footage shows Cena’s character, along with Little B (Leo Abelo Perry), dodging several vehicles belonging to Dante’s crew. While they do not come face to face, Dante appears intent on tracking down Jakob and capturing his nephew.
How Will The Action In Fast X Compare To Previous Installments?
The Fast & Furious franchise is known for its action, most of which revolves around cars and high-speed chases, but because Fast X serves as the series’ penultimate entry, it is worth wondering how the film will compare. Back in February, Leterrier revealed that Fast X would be more practical, teasing additional stunt work and filming locations, including London and Rio. If this latest sneak peek is any indication, audiences can expect a lot of explosions and unique vehicle tricks this time around.
From what has been revealed about the movie and its connection to 2011’s Fast Five, the stakes may be higher for a number of characters, particularly Dom. After Dante’s father, Brazilian drug lord Hernán Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), was killed by Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), he is out for revenge and looks to be setting his sights on Dom’s son. With Fast X‘s recent preview at CinemaCon suggesting even more action, the consequences could be greater for Dom and others now as Dante emerges as a dangerous new threat.
It will be interesting to see what other large action sequences take place in Fast X, and if Jakob and Dante ever go directly head to head. Acting as a sequel to F9, audiences will also see the return of Cipher (Theron), and a battle between her and Letty (Rodriguez) has already been teased as well, and with the teases of a major cliffhanger ending, it will be interesting to see how it sets up the final installment, Fast and Furious 11.
