Although we’ve only seen select footage for Grand Theft Auto 6 so far, it hasn’t stopped fans from picking it apart. While we wait collectively for the third major trailer from Rockstar, folks are starting to compare GTA 6 to other games, and it’s coming out favorably.
Over on X, fans are really digging into a recent comparison, which showcases how much the franchise has advanced over the years.
GTA 6 Looks Fantastic So Far
Comparisons Make This Obvious
With all the footage out there, it’s easy to showcase just how improved Grand Theft Auto 6 looks compared to most open-world games. When put side by side with GTA 5, it’s night and day. This particular tweet manages to capture two similar-looking areas in both engines, and you can see the detail really pop in every respect.
One fan writes: “Not just the environment but the character look NEXT LEVEL TOO GTA 6 is truly gonna be a multigenerational leap.” Another points out just how far GTA has come, even since the fifth entry: “GTA V already feels nostalgic to me, peak graphics is nothing compared to peak gameplay and peak story!”
They’re spot on, as the original version of GTA 5 was released in 2013. Although it has had a ton of graphical enhancements and ports since then, it’s still a powerhouse. “It’s amazing to see how far graphics have come along in the last decade,” a fan points out.
Some aren’t exactly sold on what we’ve seen so far, though: “Like all Rockstar trailers the games not gonna look as good when it actually comes out, especially if they nerf the graphics/lighting when Online comes out like what they did with RDR2.”
Others just want a good story: “GTA 6 makes GTA 5 look like a PS2 game. But GTA 5 has a great storyline that keeps you glued to the screen for at least 35 hours.”
It Could Look Better By Launch
Rockstar Games Generally Do
As fans have pointed out in the past, the final versions of Rockstar releases often look better than their trailers. It’s particularly impressive when they deliver on a fully-fledged game world, as was the case with Red Dead Redemption 2. If GTA 6 is even near that level of packed, it might even be a bigger hit than anticipated.
We aren’t done seeing pre-launch footage of Grand Theft Auto 6, either. Once a new trailer inevitably hits, fans will be looking to take that apart too. Expect lots of updates for fan projects and the like when that happens.
