How (& Where) To Collect Floating Rings in Fortnite

How (& Where) To Collect Floating Rings in Fortnite

One unique challenge in Fortnite prompts players to collect five floating rings. Here’s where to find them on the island and how to collect them.

One of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3’s weekly challenges asks players to find and collect a series of floating rings in exchange for experience points. Alongside experience points gained for scoring eliminations, match placement, and survival time, Fortnite also features challenges encouraging the player to explore and experiment with the new gameplay systems continually being introduced by Epic. Additionally, with Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3’s Battle Pass featuring lots of fun cosmetics, every challenge completed goes a long way towards helping players get as much XP as possible.

Like many other popular battle royale games, Fortnite features a wide variety of challenges that are continually introduced to the game over a single season. However, in Fortnite, these challenges typically encourage the player to do more than just loot, shoot and build, with quests that prompt players to try driving new vehicles, visit new locations, and experiment with new or returning weapons and equipment. Fortnite challenges can even verge on the slightly silly, encouraging players to try out Fortnite’s new diving boards and to generally go out of their way to try things that won’t necessarily get them a coveted Victory Royale but are pretty fun nonetheless.

The challenge to locate and collect floating rings is a unique one-off, weekly challenge and rewards players with 15,000 XP for collecting five rings. Luckily, all five rings can only be found in one location on Fortnite‘s island.

    Fortnite Reality Falls Official Art

Players looking to collect five floating rings should head to Reality Falls, a new location introduced in Fortnite’s Chapter 3 Season 3. This location is remarkably picturesque, with waterfalls cascading into a lake shadowed by the gigantic Reality Tree, almost enough to distract players from the fact that the falls are a very popular and perilous landing spot. As one of the best landing spots in Fortnite, Reality Falls features lots of loot and widespread open areas, which often encourages players to get stuck in hectic firefights early on.

Assuming players successfully survive the early-game scrum, they should focus on the top of the falls and the Reality Tree itself. Several rings are concentrated around the waterfalls, particularly at the top of the falls at the cliff edge and hanging in mid-air within the waterfalls. More rings can be found inside the trunk of the Reality Tree, so players can climb up inside to collect these. Collecting the rings can be difficult, as many of them aren’t within easy reach. The best approach is to build up to them with materials, bounce on glowing mushrooms to get some height, or take a short detour to Greasy Grove to pick up one of Fortnite’s new Grapple Gloves to try swinging up to them. Then, all the player has to do is pass through the ring’s hitbox to collect it.

Once the player collects five rings, all remaining rings will vanish, and the challenge will be completed, rewarding the player with 15,000 XP for their Fortnite battle pass. On paper, the challenge seems relatively simple, but players should be aware that Reality Falls frequently remains popular through to later stages of the game, with many players landing there and even more passing through later on to scavenge for items.
