I Think I Know Why Jasmine Pineda Chose To Have An Open Marriage With Gino Palazzolo Instead Of Leaving Him For Matt Branis (Did She Use Him?)

I Think I Know Why Jasmine Pineda Chose To Have An Open Marriage With Gino Palazzolo Instead Of Leaving Him For Matt Branis (Did She Use Him?)

Jasmine Pineda from 90 Day: The Last Resort converted her monogamous relationship with Gino Palazzolo into an open marriage, and I think I know why she did it. Jasmine and Gino exchanged their marital vows, hoping to live a healthy married life in the United States. Unfortunately, their marital bliss was short-lived. Jasmine saw herself facing intimacy issues with Gino, which pushed her to seek therapy in 90 Day: The Last Resort season 2. The couple showcased their journey on the show alongside other cast members who faced similar relationship challenges.

Initially, I was pleased to see the couple seeking therapy, as I believed their troubled relationship could benefit from it. However, I was taken aback when they displayed a complete lack of understanding of each other, proving why they should’ve ended their relationship years ago. Jasmine pressured Gino to be intimate with her, disregarding his feelings in favor of her own needs. Meanwhile, Gino showed a lack of interest in Jasmine, indicating that he was no longer attracted to her. Ultimately, Jasmine proposed the idea of an open marriage. In February 2025, she announced she was expecting Matt Branis’ child.

Jasmine Relied On Gino For Financial Support

Jasmine Needed Financial Security To Continue Her New Life In The U.S.

I have been following Jasmine’s story since she first appeared on the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off. I believe I have a thorough understanding of her character and have witnessed her growth over the past four years. Now that she is happily pregnant in the United States, it is clear to me why she chose to pursue an open marriage with Gino instead of ending their relationship. After being in a monogamous relationship with Gino from the beginning, there are key factors that have led me to conclude why Jasmine decided to explore ethical non-monogamy.

I believe financial support is a factor in why Jasmine didn’t break up with Gino. In 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Jasmine pleaded with Gino not to end their relationship after lying about cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend, Dane. She realized her mistake and regretted it because losing Gino would mean losing her K-1 visa and the financial support he provided. I suspect that Jasmine had always been more attracted to younger men. She saw 90 Day: The Last Resort as the perfect opportunity to propose polygamy to Gino, as it allowed her to appear more morally justified.

Jasmine Didn’t Want To Jeopardize Her Immigration Status

Jasmine May Have Aimed To Reside In The U.S. Permanently

I believe that immigration played a role in Jasmine’s decision to stay with Gino despite their unstable relationship. She could’ve broken up with him years ago if her primary goal hadn’t been to come to the United States. Jasmine recently shared on social media that her main objective is to provide her family with a bright future in America. She wants to bring her sons to the United States for more opportunities. While Jasmine’s desire to provide for her family is admirable, it also prompts questions about whether a desire for a visa drove her relationship with Gino.

In my opinion, Jasmine’s past provides reasons for her eagerness to come to the United States. Previously, she worked as a sugar baby and a teacher in an effort to support her family, resulting in a lack of wealth accumulation. I believe Jasmine viewed Gino as her ticket to the United States, disregarding their significant age gap and trust issues. It was only after settling into marriage in the United States that she raised concerns about intimacy and requested an open marriage, possibly as a precaution against potential immigration issues.

Perhaps Jasmine Can’t Easily Let Of Control & Manipulation

Jasmine Wanted The Time To Be Sure About Her Future With Matt

There’s also a point to be made about Jasmine’s personality and her desire to control situations.

Over the years, viewers may have noticed Jasmine shaping the narrative to her advantage. She has consistently stayed ahead of others, making sure she has the final say. One example of this is Jasmine’s backup Instagram page, which she has developed alongside her main page since she first appeared on TV. In 2024, Jasmine rebranded the page and turned it into her business account, a strategic move similar to her suggestion of an open marriage in the show 90 Day: The Last Resort.

Even after filming 90 Day: The Last Resort season 2, Matt continues to be a part of Jasmine Pineda’s life, though their relationship has changed.

I think Jasmine suggested an open marriage to Gino rather than ending their relationship, because it made her feel justified and gave her the opportunity to assess her feelings for Matt.

Jasmine may have been concerned about her future with her gym buddy, so she decided to play it safe by presenting her request for a non-monogamous relationship. In my opinion, Jasmine requested an open marriage to ensure she got the better end of the deal. She made a strategic move to evaluate her relationship with Matt while still benefiting from her current situation with Gino.

Jasmine May have Used Open Marriage To Have An Anchor Baby

Jasmine Didn’t Want To Look Like A User For Leaving Gino

Jasmine’s demand for an open marriage may have been motivated by her desire to secure her future in the United States by having an anchor baby.

She likely recognized that her relationship with Gino was fading, and she could no longer believe in his love for her. I think Jasmine may have become worried that Gino would seek an annulment and have her deported to Panama. As a result, she wanted to take preemptive action to secure her future in the United States without appearing to be using Gino.

I believe Jasmine realized that she wouldn’t be able to conceive a child with Gino because he wasn’t intimate with her. Therefore, she decided to befriend Matt who could help her have a baby and increase her chances of staying in the United States. I think Jasmine suggested an open marriage as a way to start this process and further her relationship with Matt without seeming like she was using Gino. The 90 Day: The Last Resort cast member made a clever move to appear reasonable in requesting non-monogamy and having a baby, reducing the threat of deportation.

90 Day: The Last Resort airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on TLC.
