In the midst of his rising stardom, Creed 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors has been arrested for an alleged assault. Majors got his start in the world of indie filmmaking with roles in the Western drama Hostiles and A24’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco. More recently, Majors began expanding to the world of mainstream filmmaking thanks to his turns as Marvel Cinematic Universe villain Kang the Conqueror and HBO’s short-lived Lovecraft Country, among others.
The Hollywood Reporter has now brought word, however, that Majors, the actor behind Creed 3‘s antagonist Diamond Dame and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania villain Kang the Conqueror, has been arrested for an alleged assault. Sources report that the victim accusing Majors is the actor’s girlfriend and that he got physical during an argument with her. Majors’ representatives responded to the allegations in the following statement:
He’s done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.
What We Know About Majors’ Assault Allegations
Sources report that the unnamed 30-year-old woman pressed the assualt charges after the two got into an argument when she confronted the Creed 3 star over seeing another woman texting him while at a Brooklyn bar. The same report from TMZ states that their argument got heated while in the taxi on the way back to their home, with the actor grabbing her hand and slapping her, and later putting his hands around her neck.
A statement from the New York Police Department later confirmed that “a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute” with the alleged victim, and that they took the suspect into custody “without incident“. It also confirms that the alleged victim has suffered “minor injuries” to both her head and neck from the incident, but that she was currently resting in “stable condition” at an area hospital.
With the actor’s arrest still fresh, it’s unclear what Jonathan Majors‘ alleged assaultwill result in from both a legal and career perspective. The actor had been in the height of his mainstream popularity, with both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed 3 performing well at the box office, and the former only being the second of his many future MCU performances as the villain Kang the Conqueror in The Multiverse Saga.
