Keke Palmer To Make Directorial Debut with Big Boss Documentary

Keke Palmer is set to make her directorial debut with her upcoming documentary, Big Boss, which will detail her experiences in the music industry.

Keke Palmer is set to make her directorial debut with her upcoming documentary, Big Boss. With a career spanning about 20 years in the entertainment industry so far, Palmer has been as an actress, singer-songwriter, television personality, narrator, and author, plus is an activist. Perhaps best known for her roles in 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee, the Nickelodeon series True Jackson, VP, the star has recently made headlines for her most recent acting roles as Emerald Haywood in Jordan Peele’s Nope following a leading voice role as Izzy Hawthorne in Lightyear.

Now, per an interview with British Vogue, Palmer is currently working on her directorial debut for a film called Big Boss. The film will be a documentary centered around her experiences in the music industry, and will be accompanied by an album of the same name, which she described as “a collection of different vibes” representing who she is as a woman coming into her own. What’s more, Big Boss is also the name of the record label she created in 2018, with the aim to empower and give back herself and her peers in the creative community, setting a path for fellow artists to follow.

A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon, & the youngest & first Black Cinderella on broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS, is Keke Palmer.

Although not much else is known about Big Boss, the documentary, at this point, Palmer has been open about how her time as an artist in the music business has been difficult in the past, so it should be interesting to see her expand upon these and perhaps investigate more into the industry overall. And she has experience in this regard too, narrating Not So Pretty, a documentary released earlier this year, which investigates the dark side of the beauty industry. While there have already been several documentaries that delve into the music industry, Palmer will now get to bring to light her own experiences and expose the industry in her own way, perhaps helping others too, like with her record label.
