Manifest season 4 part 2 will have a time jump after its part 1 ending, confirms creator and showrunner Jeff Rake. The highly-anticipated final season of the sci-fi series just dropped its first 10 episodes on Netflix. After being canceled by NBC in 2018, Manifest was picked up by the streaming platform following a fan campaign to save it from cancelation. Starring an ensemble cast led by Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas as siblings Michaela and Ben Stone, Manifest centers around the passengers, deemed the “lifeboat“, of flight 828, who mysteriously return home 5 years after their airplane vanishes. The passengers must understand ‘callings’, the visions they see following their return home, to avoid their “death date” which is when each passenger is predicted to die.
Manifest‘s season 4 part 1 concluded on a major cliffhanger. The tragic ending sees Zeke (Matt Long) realize the only way to save humanity and beat the death date is to save Cal, (Ty Doran), Ben’s son. Zeke selflessly sacrifices himself and uses his empathic powers to absorb Cal’s leukemia, dying in the process. This leaves his fiancée, Michaela, (Melissa Roxburgh) a heartbroken widow. Now, creator Rake discusses what to expect from Manifest season 4 part 2.
In a new interview with TVLine, showrunner Jeff Rake reveals Manifest season 4 part 2 will have a time jump. Part 2 will open a few months after the events of the finale, shares Rake. Read what Rake had to say about season 4 part 2 below:
When we pick up for the last 10 episodes of the series, a “number of months” will have passed since the events of Episode 10, Rake reveals. “Jared will have been respectful, and then the question raised [is], ‘How much time does one have to wait before moving on?’ That will be a question that both Michaela and Jared ask themselves.
Everything We Know About Manifest Season 4 Part 2
Manifest season 4 part 2 will follow the same 10-episode format as part 1, but does not have a release date yet. The final installment will either see the flight 828 passengers fall victim to the death date, or survive. However, their survival also has implications for the rest of humanity, as season 4 part 1 reveals. Angelina (Holly Taylor) retrieves the Omega Sapphire, which allows the group unlimited callings, and now what is seemingly the lifeboat’s savior is in the wrong hands. The last scene, which sees Angelina walking with the Omega, reveals cracks in the Earth below her and molten lava creeping out. The next season will need to see the lifeboat finally defeat the villainous Angelina if they are to defeat the death date.
As the season 4 part 1 finale also revealed, the lifeboat believes Cal to be the “dragon“, the key to saving humanity. While Zeke ended his own life to save Cal’s, Rake hints at a possible communication between Zeke and his widow, Michaela, through the callings in season 4 part 2. Perhaps, Zeke will have more answers for the group, and will continue to use his powers to help them. However, Rake does also seem to tease a possible romance between Michaela and Jared (J.R. Ramirez), which could mean Zeke only has a small role in part 2. Only time will tell the lifeboat’s fate when Manifest returns in what is sure to be an epic conclusion to its final season.
