Big Brother 24 houseguest Michael Bruner dominated the game until his elimination during the week 9 double eviction, and now he reveals if he would ever return for an all-stars season. Michael was a comp beast who broke Big Brother legend Janelle Pierzina’s single-season veto competition record of five wins by winning a sixth veto. He also tied her record for most wins in a single season with a combined nine Head of Household (HOH) and Power of Veto wins. Both these records stood for 16 years. Michael is a Big Brother superfan, and Janelle is his favorite player, so it meant a lot to him have the opportunity to play the game in such a big way.
Because some Big Brother houseguests have returned to play the game, there is a record for the most wins across more than one season. Cody Calafiore and Paul Abrahamian are tied with 14 combined HOH and Power of Veto competition wins throughout the two seasons that they played. If Michael were to compete on Big Brother again at the level he played this time, he could possibly beat that record as well.
In an interview with Gold Derby, Michael was asked if he would return for an all-stars season so that he can try to break the comp win record, and he said yes. Michael declared, “I would come back and play this game in a heartbeat. If you told me, ‘Hey, you’re starting again tomorrow for another 85 days,’ I would be like, ‘You don’t even have to ask. Just put me back in.’ If I ever got the call to do all-stars, it’s not even a question.” Michael was very disappointed and angry to be backdoored from the game during the double eviction, so he would jump at the chance to return to the game.
In regard to trying to break the Big Brother competition record, Michael said, “I 1,000 percent would go back, and if I get the comp win record, great. But any opportunity to play this game again, I would jump at.” Michael then referenced his status as a Big Brother superfan. He said, “I love this game so much and the fact that I got to play once is an honor. To play for a second time, it would blow my mind.” Fans might have mixed feelings about Michael playing again because, although they were excited by his incredible competition record, they were disappointed by how he handled the situation with Kyle Capener’s comments regarding race in the game. Viewers felt that Michael waited to expose Kyle’s racial comments as a game tactic, rather than as an attempt to fight for what is right, which was how Michael presented it.
Although Michael became a polarizing Big Brother figure because of his social game, there is no denying that he was a comp beast who dominated the game. To break a record that was held for 16 years was a very impressive feat. Even though Michael did not win the game, he will go down in history as a Big Brother legend much like Janelle, who has never won. If there ever is another all-stars season, Michael will surely be invited for another chance to become a Big Brother winner.
