Minka Kelly is getting ready to raise a glass to the holiday season with her forthcoming romantic-comedy feature for Netflix.
The Euphoria actress is set to star in Champagne Problems from writer-director Mark Steven Johnson. Kelly will play a mergers and acquisitions executive who heads to France just ahead of Christmas to finalize a deal for a beloved champagne brand. However, the situation gets complicated when she begins a whirlwind romance with a Parisian stranger who just happens to be the son of the champagne company’s founder.
The film’s release information and additional cast details are set to be announced at a later date.
Johnson previously helmed the streamer’s 2022 rom-com feature Love in the Villa that starred Kat Graham and Tom Hopper. Prior to that, he directed the 2020 Netflix movie Love, Guaranteed featuring Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr.
Stephanie Slack and Margret H. Huddleston are producing Champagne Problems for Off Camera Entertainment.
Kelly can soon be seen opposite Josh Duhamel in the upcoming Netflix drama series Ransom Canyon, centering on three families living in Texas Hill Country. Kelly starred alongside Dermot Mulroney in the thriller feature Blackwater Lane, which Lionsgate released last month, and her other credits include Euphoria, Titans and Friday Night Lights.
Netflix has continued to make romantic comedies a priority for the platform over the years. Its recent titles in the space include A Family Affair starring Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and Joey King, in addition to Mother of the Bride, which was led by Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove and Benjamin Bratt.
