For the past five seasons of RHOP, Candiace and Ashley have had the most tumultuous relationship. Perhaps it is the end of the road for a friendship.
On The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Boalch-Darby and Candiace Dillard-Bassett’s friendship seems to be on the rocks. For seven seasons now, the Potomac women have graced the screens of every Bravo lover and loyal fanatic of The Real Housewives franchise alike as they watch the drama and laughs unfold. Ashley and Candiace, along with Robyn Dixon, Mia Thornton, Karen Huger, Gizelle Bryant, and Wendy Osefo give viewers something substantial to watch week after week. It is for this reason alone that the series has become a staple in The Real Housewives franchise, and among the higher-rated as it includes some of the juiciest drama and funniest moments that the franchise has seen.
When RHOP season 7 was announced, fans couldn’t wait to feast their eyes on the lives of these women. When the trailer finally premiered after quite some time, it looked to be one of the best RHOP seasons yet. One moment in particular had avid watchers of the series clutching their pearls, as they witnessed what appeared to be Ashley and Candiace having a nice moment together alone. However, when the moment came to fruition in a recent episode, it did not last long as the women started to go at it once again during a group activity. The two seem to be like oil and water for some reason, so perhaps they will never be friends again.
A Brief History Of Ashley And Candiace On RHOP
Ashley is the one who brought Candiace onto the show during RHOP season 3, when she introduced then-cast member Monique Samuels to her during a foundation event. Ashley was throwing the event, and the two knew each other from the pageant circuit. However, things started to decline for Ashley and Candiace when remarks were made by the latter of the two about Ashley’s decision to drink while trying to conceive a child. From that point, things started to escalate as Ashley inserted herself into drama that did not involve her. To Candiace’s dismay, she grabbed a butter knife and held it up in front of Ashley. Then, Ashley added insult to injury by siding with Monique when she was pressing charges against Candiace. Amidst all of this drama, Candiace would repeatedly hurl insults about Ashley’s then-husband, Michael Darby.
The Moment Of No Return For RHOPS’ Ashley and Candiace
In a messy moment on Ashley’s behalf during a group get-together, she decided to bring Candiace’s husband Chris Bassett up in front of everyone to claim that he was acting flirty at a party with one of her friends. Candiace rightfully got angry with her because she decided to expose this information publicly rather than privately. The two women just seem to go around in circles with one another. As soon as it looks like things are looking up, someone decides to reign it back in. When Ashley and Candiace are on good terms, they are a dynamic duo and really seem to understand each other and get along. If they don’t stop going after each other’s marriages and life choices, then nothing will ever get resolved as. In this most recent RHOP moment, they seemed to go tit-for-tat.
Perhaps, if Ashley and Candiace really sat down and laid everything out on the table regarding past issues, they can move on with their friendship. Unlike other series in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Potomac does not always seem to film conversations with the women who have issues with one another and hash things out. It is highly possible for Ashley and Candiace to come to an understanding and move forward, but it may be too far gone at this point, especially since they seem too proud to own up to their mistakes.
