5 Spring Fashion Trends 2026 That You Can Style Right Now

I’ve worked in fashion my entire career, and I’m still amazed by how far in advance the industry operates when it comes to trends. By the time you see the spring fashion trends 2026 pieces hit the sites and sales floors, they’ve likely been in production for close to a year—which means it was first dreamed up even earlier, then sampled repeatedly until the design team landed on the right fit, fabric, and details. After that comes production, photography, merchandising, marketing, and finally, the moment it hits your closet.

That timeline is what makes predicting trends so tricky. Designers are creating collections more than a year in advance, but those pieces still need to align with the cultural moment when they’re released. Sometimes that’s careful forecasting, and sometimes it’s pure luck.

Take the recent wave of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy–inspired style. Thanks to FX’s Love Story, structured minimalism is everywhere right now, meaning brands that leaned into sleek tailoring for their collections landed right on time. Other trends start to emerge when multiple brands receive similar forecasts, like the bright purple showing up across so many runways this season.

Spring Fashion Trends 2026: How to Make Them Your Own

From a consumer standpoint, keeping up with the spring fashion trends 2026 can feel overwhelming. My biggest advice: choose inspiration over imitation. You don’t have to wear every trend simply because it exists. Pull elements that resonate—maybe it’s the ease of a silhouette or a fresh color pairing—and build a wardrobe that feels both current and true to your personal style.

The goal isn’t to copy trends. It’s to let them spark new ideas for how you want to dress.

5 Spring Fashion Trends 2026 You Can Style Right Now

With that in mind, these spring fashion trends 2026 are showing up everywhere. Here’s how to make them feel wearable right now.

    Scarf Styling

Scarves are having a major moment this season—and they’re being styled in far more ways than simply tied around the neck. Brands like Alémais and Reformation are incorporating scarf-inspired pieces directly into their ready-to-wear collections, but a simple silk scarf remains one of the easiest ways to add color, movement, and personality to an outfit. Across the spring fashion trends 2026 runways, scarves appeared as tops, belts, headbands, and more, bringing a playful sense of versatility to even the most minimal looks.

    How to wear it now:

This is a trend you can truly make your own. Whenever I’m unsure of what top to wear, I often reach for a scarf. It feels effortless, a little unexpected, and instantly styled when paired with white linen pants, denim, or tailored trousers. Take any square silk or cotton scarf, fold it into a triangle, tie the longest edge around your waist, then wrap the top corners around your neck to secure it in place. Or, if that’s not your style, keep the same triangle shape and simply tie it around your waist as a belt instead.

    ‘90’s-Inspired Nylon

Sporty nylon pieces are back—and they’re not limited to the gym. One of the more surprising spring fashion trends of 2026 is the return of retro nylon jackets, shorts, and skirts. Designers styled them in elevated ways on the runway, often pairing oversized “dad jackets” with silk shorts, tailored pieces, and even heels. The contrast between athletic fabrics and polished styling makes the look feel both modern and nostalgic, styled and relaxed.

    How to wear it now:

There’s a good chance a retro windbreaker already exists somewhere in your home—maybe in your closet, your dad’s closet, or your partner’s. Pair it with denim, kitten heels, and sunglasses for a sporty but elevated outfit that works perfectly for those in-between spring temps.

    Fashion-Forward Flip Flops

Flip flops are back, proving once again that fashion trends always come full circle. I remember watching interviews outside a fashion show last year where people were asked what the worst thing a guy could wear. Nearly every answer was the same: flip flops. Fast forward to now, and those same girls are wearing them. Among the standout spring fashion trends of 2026, designers brought back nostalgic Havaianas-style sandals alongside platform, wedged, and square-toed versions of the classic shoe. They’re effortless, easy to style, and feel right for warmer weather.

    How to wear it now:

Start with a great pedicure and a minimal pair of black flip flops. Style them with a monochrome white outfit—linen pants and a simple tee—to create contrast. Add black sunglasses, and suddenly the whole look feels effortless, chic, and timeless.

Everything But the Pot of Gold

Color is one of the most joyful spring fashion trends 2026 brings. Deep teal, bright purple, and vibrant orange are appearing across collections, often styled together in unexpected combinations. Designers are embracing bold color pairings rather than sticking to a single standout shade. One combination I’ve been loving lately is teal or light blue paired with orange—it feels fresh, vibrant, and perfectly suited to spring.

    How to wear it now:

If you love color, lean all the way in. A good rule of thumb: if two colors would look great together as throw pillows on a couch, they’ll likely work in an outfit, too. For a more minimalist approach, incorporate color through accessories: shoes, bags, sunglasses, or scarves. Even a small pop can bring energy to a neutral look.

    Form Over Function Bags

When it comes to bags in 2026, practicality is taking a backseat to personality. This season’s bags are less about what fits inside and more about the statement they make on the outside. Designers are embracing playful shapes, bold textures, fringe, and ultra-mini silhouettes that prioritize style over storage. Think bags shaped like animals, dramatic fringe details, or tiny pouches that barely hold more than a phone and lip gloss.

    How to wear it now:

I love choosing statement bags that reflect personal interests, so find one that speaks to you, and then let it do the talking. Pair your statement purse with a simple outfit: jeans and a crisp shirt, a neutral dress, or a monochrome set. When the rest of the look is understated, the bag becomes the focal point.

Which of the spring fashion trends 2026 are you most excited to style?
