Nailing Your Hair Growth Journey In 2023

If there’s one thing that many people strive to have, it’s perfect hair. Sometimes it feels as though the perfect hair doesn’t exist, until you see influencers like Shay Sullivan and Nià The Light that is. The internet has become an amazing place for hair inspo thanks to platforms like Pinterest and TikTok, showing that hair goals really can become a reality.

Achieving perfect hair isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes a lot of work and a lot of care. Whether you’re trying to grow your hair or improve its condition, it can feel like an uphill battle to reach your goals.

If you’re ready to achieve your hair goals in 2023 then listen up, here are some of the best tips to help you nail your hair growth journey in 2023.

Give your hair a brutal assessment

If your hair isn’t working for you right now, it’s time to ask yourself, ‘how do I change this?’. Think about how you want your hair to be, but also what’s going wrong at the moment. Take some time to look at your hair habits and work out how often you wash and style it, how you treat it, how you protect it, etc., to help you make a plan that will help you make improvements.

Learn more about your hair type to help you work out the best ways to care for your hair.

Visit a salon for professional advice and styling

Hair stylists are the experts in all things hair, which makes them the best people to speak to about your hair growth journey. A visit to a hair salon can help you get a good trim and a style/color that’s easy to manage so you can get your journey off to the best start. Ask your stylist questions about your hair and how to care for it, and make sure you take their advice on board.

Invest in products that will nourish your hair

Haircare companies are always looking to create the latest innovations in hair care. This means you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to hair products to help you on your hair growth journey. Starting with the right shampoo and conditioner, find products that are suited to your hair type and come with some strong reviews. From there, you should look for supplementary products such as heat protection, treatments and styling products that can nourish and strengthen your hair to help you keep it looking its best.

    Try hair growth supplements

Hair growth supplements are a popular way for people to grow their hair. Generally, hair growth supplements contain ingredients you can get by improving your diet, but these can give you an extra boost where needed. It’s important to realize that supplements alone won’t give you your dream hair, but they can be an added bonus to help you achieve greater lengths and better strength.

Ease off on the hairstyling tools

Heat damage is one of the main causes of hair breakage and dry, frizzy hair. While using heated hair tools can help you improve the look of your natural hair, using them too much can damage it.

Try to reduce how many times you style your hair in a week. Using gentler styling tools, such as a Dyson Air Wrap, help reduce the amount of heat used, while heatless curl techniques can also help you avoid heat altogether. It’s time to get creative with your hairstyling to help you use as little heat as possible to give your hair a fighting chance.

When you do turn to heat, always use a heat protection spray to protect your strands from damage.

Use treatments, but don’t overdo it

Hair treatments are a fantastic way to help condition your hair and give it more targeted nourishment. A weekly hair masque is a great way to boost your hair, while overnight oils can also give benefits to your hair and scalp.

While treatments can make a big difference, using them too often can also cause problems. Having too much protein in your hair can make it weaker, not stronger, which can lead to damage and breakage. Clarifying shampoos can be a good way to reduce protein build-up, and help to cleanse your hair more effectively, helping each wash to last longer.

    Get regular trims

Cutting your hair can feel counterproductive when you’re trying to grow it. However, regular trims are what’s needed to tackle split ends and problem strands. A trim every 8 to 12 weeks should help you manage your hair while helping it grow, but if you notice a lot of breakage in between, you should consider getting your hair cut more frequently.

    Give extensions a try

Hair extensions are a fantastic way to add length and volume to your hair, and are a popular choice with many women. Some women have great results using hair extensions while they grow out their own hair, but it’s important to handle hair extensions with care.

There are different types of hair extensions, with improved application techniques making them much kinder to hair than they used to be. However, it’s still important to do your research to make sure you’re choosing extensions that won’t cause further damage to your hair.

    Document your journey

It’s not always easy to notice hair growth. It happens so gradually, that it can take several months before you see big changes. So why not document your hair like you would your fitness? Take progress photos, measure the length, and applaud the changes in condition as your hair grows. #HairGrowthJourney is a popular tag on TikTok and Instagram, and you can find plenty of inspiration to help you continue along your own growth path.

Growing your hair takes a lot of time and work, but the results are worth it to help you achieve your dream hair. With some extra care and changes to your habits, you can make 2023 the year you finally achieve your hair goals.
