The Healthy New Year’s Resolutions You Should Take Up In 2023

The Healthy New Year’s Resolutions You Should Take Up In 2023

It’s the time of year when we’re all starting to consider our New Year’s Resolutions. So why not do it properly this year?

It’s all well and good stating you’re going to give up chocolate, doing so for three weeks and then gorging on a Snickers bar, but that doesn’t really change anything. New Year’s Resolutions should be life changing. You should look back in a year from now and feel a sense of accomplishment that your life is now significantly better and healthier that it was previously.

So, what are the healthy resolutions you should conjure up for 2023 and actually stick to?

    5K per day

If you’re a lover of running then why not commit to doing it every day, wind, rain or shine. 5K each and every day is a good way to do this without overstretching yourself or taking up too much time in what may be a busy schedule.

Many people do this already, and the incredible story of Ron Hill, a former British Olympian can provide just the inspiration you need. Such was his love of running, he ran every single day for 52 years and 39 days (that’s a total of 19,032 days!) during his life, and only stopped due to ill health. He died only last year, living to 82 years-old and was a big advocate of encouraging people to take up running for both their physical and mental health.

There are dozens of great routes and running clubs across Atlanta, that you can sign up to and get your journey up and running.

    No booze for a year

Alcohol is one of the biggest killers on the planet and it’s fair to say many of us have an unhealthy relationship with the substance. It’s perhaps no surprise to hear that millions of people have been through rehab for alcohol issues around the world and it can be difficult to give up for those that are dependent or addicted to it.

Each January, millions of people give up alcohol for the month as part of Dry January, but why not take that to the next level and turn one month into two, three, four and beyond?

Come December it’s likely you’ll feel different both mentally and physically, and for the better too!

Take a focus on holistic fitness

When we think about getting fit and healthy, we often think about physical fitness, meaning taking up running, cycling, swimming or going to the gym. However, setting holistic fitness goals can be just as powerful, taking your mental wellbeing into consideration. Committing to yoga everyday can be just as beneficial as training for and running a marathon, and by the end of the year, you’ll be feeling totally more zen. What’s more, there are dozens of amazing yoga classes across Atlanta, perfect for beginners. You may even make new friends along the way!
