The hotel you choose can make or break a vacation. The nine properties here are the ones that have absolutely made our most recent trips—each is as stunning, comfortable, and impressive as the next.

    The Hotels

      San José del Cabo, Mexico

“I’ve been dreaming of the massage I had at Spa Alkemia at the Ritz-Carlton Zadún for months. The hotel is 45 minutes from the bustling epicenter of Cabo, but once you step into the expansive, modern property, you might forget you’re in Cabo at all, save for the beach. Come here when you want to escape. If you do crave a little bit of activity, the hotel is about 15 minutes from Flora Farms and Acre, two of my favorite spots in all of Mexico.” —Noora Raj Brown, executive vice president, brand

“Overlooking Santorini sunsets and the Aegean Sea, Andronis Concept is a Grecian gem. Each suite has a private terrace and plunge pool and feels totally secluded. The restaurant menu is nutritionist-curated, with ingredients plucked from the hotel’s garden. And I spent a good chunk of time at Kallos Spa: I got a heavenly holistic massage. I wanted to stay there forever.” —Olivia Lev, social media manager

      Carmel-by-the-Sea, California

“Staying at Villa Mara feels like staying in a private home—one that’s beautifully designed, adults-only, and 100 yards from the Pacific Ocean. There’s really no better place to land in Carmel, whether you’re there for a week or for a weekend: The location is notable for its proximity to the beach, yes, but also for being just far enough from the part of town that can feel crowded with tourists. In the mornings, the guests-only hotel bar serves juice shots, pastries, quiches, and excellent coffee. In the evening, it’s a relaxing place to gather for a cocktail or a glass of wine. Secluded firepits and cypress trees give the property magical—and elite—coastal grandmother vibes.” —Jessie Geoffray, wellness director, content

      Pendry Manhattan West
      New York City

“The new Pendry is classic NYC luxe—but with a more relaxed, sunnier, West Coast feeling. The bar off the lobby is cozy and glamorous, like a swanky uptown speakeasy, with floor-to-ceiling oil-rubbed-bronze walls and this gorgeous installation by abstract painter Nancy Lorenz. (I’ve seen her stuff at Chanel boutiques. She’s good.) Eat at Zou Zou’s on-site—chef Madeline Sperling’s crispy latkes and Moroccan fried chicken are to die for—or take a walk across the plaza for ricotta-stuffed agnolotti at Ci Siamo or a casual salad-and-sandwich situation at Daily Provisions.” —Ali Pew, creative and editorial fashion director

      Hotel San Cristóbal
      Todos Santos, Mexico

“Hotel San Cristóbal feels relatively small and intimate at 32 rooms. It has a bit of a hipster-y, Instagram-y aesthetic, but the overall vibe was much more chill than I was expecting. Ideal for reading novels, which is my ideal. To get to the hotel, you drive down a long, bumpy dirt road: The landscape is Palm Springs meets Malibu, roughly. My room wasn’t huge, but the bathroom and shower were. And I had a lovely outdoor patio—with a personal hammock—overlooking the pool and ocean. You can’t swim at a lot of the beaches in Todos Santos (the currents are too dangerous), but you can swim at the stretch of beach beyond the pool here. The food was excellent—I never imagined I would order a beet salad three days in a row. I miss it. I could imagine staying at the property the whole time, but it’s nice to have a rental car to tool around this part of Baja. It takes about 10 minutes to drive into the town area of Todos Santos.” —Kiki Koroshetz, VP, content

      The Inn Spot
      Hampton Bays, New York

“As a California transplant in New York, every so often I really crave a West Coast feeling. Which I got at the new Inn Spot on the water—it made me feel a little like I was kicking back in a Malibu surf shack (chicly appointed, of course). I loved the mid-century details, the pops of color against beachy grey and white, the sleekly minimalist kitchens and baths, and the knockout view of the sunset. The more East Coast–y shingled main house on the property has a similarly jaw-dropping view, but the big surprise is the restaurant, which serves some of the best California-Mexican food I’ve had in New York. Smoked-mushroom carnitas, local fish tacos, duck-confit sopas, cauliflower al pastor—all are next-level delicious, as are the fresh mezcal-intensive cocktails (for all those who hate a sweet drink, the bartender is happy to skip the simple syrup or agave). Even one night is a real plane-ride-less vacation. Wake up the next morning, run to the gorgeous beach over an arched causeway, and swim and sun (and surf) to your heart’s content.” —Jean Godfrey-June, executive beauty director

      Mona
      Athens

“Our only regret about Mona is that we stayed just one night. It’s built into this industrial factory from the 1950s in Athens’s Psirri neighborhood. It’s small, just 20 rooms, with this members-only rooftop stocked with local delicacies and natural wines. (It has excellent views of the Acropolis, too.) It charmed us with its mix of old and new: preserved-iron staircases, terrazzo floors, metal windows, one of those toilets where you pull a string from the ceiling. There were these handmade ceramic coffee mugs we would have loved to take home. And an iPad preloaded with playlists. We could text the concierge for anything and everything.” —Sandra Slusarczyk, associate fashion editor

      Canoe Place
      Hampton Bays, New York

“Everything about the just-renovated Canoe Place Inn is magic. I loved the floor-to-ceiling trellised-botanical-print wallpaper, cozy alpaca throw blankets, walk-in rain shower (stocked with Costa Brazil bath products), and lush garden punctuated with loungers, sofas, and the most beautiful green marble bar. Have dinner at the delicious Good Ground Tavern downstairs—weeks later, I’m still thinking about the lavender spritz (made with lavender straight from the garden) and the crab cakes with lemon and tarragon aioli. I got a luxe facial at the in-house ONDA Beauty spa that left my skin radiant. My favorite part? They have a dog-friendly room option that’s so cute: My dog Shiloh got the red-carpet treatment with a dog bed, treats, and a bowl—she was thrilled and so were we.” —Brianna Peters, associate beauty editor

      Telluride, Colorado

“I stayed at the Mountain Lodge for my friends Nick and Maddie’s wedding, and it was the perfect fall getaway. We stayed in one of the luxury log cabins. They’re rustic in the most charming way, with exposed pine features and lofted bedrooms. And the views of the surrounding peaks and canyons were insane. The lodge is right next to the gondola that takes you into the village and town. I’ll be back here in the winter for some snowboarding.” —Juliette Favat, associate art director
