Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands to play DJ set

Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands to play DJ set

The Chemical Brothers‘ Tom Rowlands has been confirmed for a “rare solo DJ set” at Glastonbury Festival 2025.

Rowlands – who forms one half of the electronic duo alongside Ed Simons – is due to appear at the Stonebridge Bar in The Park on Friday June 27, as part of Bugged Out’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

“We are thrilled to announce Tom Rowlands will be joining our 30 Years of Bugged Out session in the Stonebridge, The Park at Glastonbury on the Friday night!” reads an announcement post on social media.

Rowlands is likely to take the late ‘TBA’ slot at the Stonebridge Bar between 01:30-02:45, following Erol Alkan B2B Fall Forward (Bugged Out Classics), and ahead of Emerald, and a joint set from Hot Chip‘s Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor.

Elsewhere on the “big disco” line-up is a reggae set from Modeselektor, an indie sleaze slot from Perel, a DJ set from Fcukers, and more.

Launched in Manchester in 1994, Bugged Out describes itself as “one of the UK’s most enduring club nights with early appearances from The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk and a who’s who of Detroit and Chicago DJs passing through its doors”.

The news of Rowlands’ return to Worthy Farm comes as he shares two new tracks – ‘We Are Nothing’ and ‘All Night’ – today (Thursday June 12) via the Erol Alkan-founded label Phantasy Sound.

In a post on Instagram, the label said Rowlands’ upcoming Glasto appearance would be a “rare solo DJ set”. Check out the official announcements above, and listen to the new tracks here:

The Chemical Brothers played a DJ set at Arcadia as part of Glastonbury 2023. They had been scheduled to appear at the same venue the year prior, but were forced to cancel this slot after Rowlands contracted COVID.

In 2019 the duo headlined the Other Stage at Glasto, having previously occupied the same spot in 2015 and 2011. The Chemical Brothers topped the bill on the Pyramid Stage back in 2000.

Looking ahead to this year’s edition, there are numerous ‘TBA’ slots remaining on the Glasto line-up – including one billed as a mystery act, ‘Patchwork’. This is rumoured to be Pulp, who’d be returning to the Pyramid Stage 30 years on from their 1995 headline gig. Jarvis Cocker and co. have just released their first album in 24 years, ‘More’.

Meanwhile, Lewis Capaldi is reportedly appearing in the brief Pyramid Stage gap on Friday June 27 between 4.55pm and 5.30pm. Additionally, there’s speculation that Lorde could be celebrating the release of her new album, ‘Virgin’, by opening the Woodsies stage that morning.

Earlier this week, Haim responded to rumours that they’d be returning to their “favourite” Glastonbury stage, The Park – where they would showcase their fourth studio record, ‘I Quit’.

In other news, the early weather forecast for Glasto ’25 is here, as are the full line-up, times and stage splits, and the newly updated site map.

Glastonbury 2025 will be headlined by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo. Visit here for all NME‘s latest coverage.
