With reports suggesting that Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris has led to the registration of hundreds of thousands of new voters, the reality of her impact on the election may be starting to dawn on Donald Trump.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump declared on Truth Social Sunday morning.
Trump had already antagonized Swift and her rabid fanbase by posting fake AI images falsely suggesting that the singer had endorsed him for president (which Swift subsequently cited as a reason why she chose to publicly endorse his opponent). Last week, following the endorsement, Trump’s campaign sought to further troll Swift by selling t-shirts inspired by her “Eras Tour.” Meanwhile, one of Trump’s chief supporters, Elon Musk, offered to impregnate Swift.
Now, following a series of poor polls, Trump has seemingly declared an all-out war against Swift. It’s a bold strategy, for sure, given that the 2024 election will largely hinge on voter turnout, and antagonizing a fanbase as massive and fiercely loyal as Swift’s may only further mobilize young voters against him.
