Regardless of your thoughts on Post Malone’s music, he seems well-liked in the industry and has a reputation as a down-to-earth guy. On Christmas Eve, he furthered that reputation by leaving a $20,000 tip to a bartender at a neighborhood bar in Houston, Texas.
“Going into work Christmas Eve I was so sad I had to leave baby girl to go to work,” Renee Brown wrote on social media. “Oblivious that god would send me a Christmas miracle. This is hands down the most humble personable celebrity I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He changed my life on Christmas fucking Eve and I will forever be grateful. Thank you so much Austin 🙌”
The 36-year-old single mother later spoke about the experience with Music Mayhem, explaining that she had to leave her 9-year-old daughter, Iliana, at home on Christmas Eve for the “first time” to work her late shift at The Railyard.
Later in the evening, Posty and some friends, including Shaboozey, stopped by. As soon as Brown found out, she “told all my regulars not to be weird and bug him as it’s a neighborhood dive bar, and I’m sure he picked a place like that to feel a sense of normalcy.”
“It was amazing to see everyone so happy and seeing how kind he was to all the people that spend their days with me on the regular,” she recalled about the artist’s warm presence.
Though Post Malone’s check was taken care of by closing time, he insisted that Brown charge him a small amount so he could leave a tip: “So he asked me to ring him up for a penny or anything, so I did. I continued my close and collected all my checks and started to enter my tips. Then I got to his. It was a tip for 20,000 dollars.”
While a $20,000 tip would make anyone’s day, it came at the right time for Brown, who told Music Mayhem that she works two jobs and homeschools her daughter.
“This put me in a position to at least be able to get a way back and forth to work and pay up on rent and save a bit,” she said. “I’m trying to save up to start a business, so I don’t have to continue working two jobs and be able to spend more time with my daughter. Things have been extremely difficult, and this was truly a blessing that I can’t fully put into words. The visit alone was absolutely amazing and something I could talk about and remember for the rest of my life.”
Posty has been known to stop by local watering holes, even stepping up to the mic for impromptu karaoke sessions in the past. Starting in April, he’ll have the opportunity to visit some more while on “The Big Ass Stadium Tour.” Tickets are available here.
