A lawsuit accusing Snoop Dogg of sexual assaulting a woman in Anaheim, California in 2013 has been refiled, documents obtained by Pitchfork show. The lawsuit, which was initially reported in February, was dismissed in April. The case was refiled in a California federal court earlier this week, removing the rapper’s business ventures from the lawsuit to sue only Snoop Dogg and fellow defendant Bishop Don “Magic” Juan.
The lawsuit reasserts many of the allegations from Jane Doe’s previous filings. Namely, in the complaint, the woman alleges that Snoop Dogg and Bishop Don “Magic” Juan forced her to have oral sex with them in 2013. The new lawsuit claims that the defendants violated the Trafficking Victims Protection Act and Tom Bane Civil Rights Act, accusing them of sexual battery, sexual assault, and conspiracy. The new filing also alleges defamation, infliction of emotional distress, and unlawful retaliation in violation of California labor code.
Jane Doe’s attorney, Matt Evan Orellana Finkelberg, told the Los Angeles Times via email, “We have obtained new information which we believe adds significant credibility and corroboration to the alleged scheme of Defendants and the alleged acts they took against my client and others.”
The lawyer continued, “We believe that this new information stated in the complaint which includes details of what allegedly happened to other alleged victims, including an alleged attempted rape against an alleged victim by Defendant SNOOP DOGG, is important and demonstrates how serious our claims are.”
When reached by Pitchfork on Wednesday (July 20), a spokesperson for Snoop Dogg wrote:
Pitchfork has also reached out to an attorney who represented Bishop Don “Magic” Juan in Jane Doe’s previous lawsuit against the parties.
