The Long Beach rapper celebrated a big anniversary in 2024, with his breakout album Regulate… G Funk Era celebrating its 30th anniversary in June. Speaking with the Recording Academy about the album’s anniversary, Warren said he wanted to write something that felt authentic to his experience in the rap game at the time, especially when it came to his own personal beef with collaborator Mista Grimm. “[He] is my dog. But he was doing things that just wasn’t cool … But I forgave him for all of that still,” he said. “Even though I talked about it in the song [‘Do You See’], I forgave him ’cause that was my dog. He’s still my dog.”
