Conservative Group Turning Point USA Goes To War Against ‘The View’ For Neo-Nazi Claims

Conservative Group Turning Point USA Goes To War Against ‘The View’ For Neo-Nazi Claims

You can always count on the ladies of “The View” to add to the divisive political commentary circulating in our country. However, they may have met their match in the young conservative organization Turning Point USA.

This past weekend TPUSA held its Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida.

The event had various big-name Republican speakers, including former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green, Senator Rick Scott, and Congressman Matt Gaetz.

Unfortunately, some uninvited guests also showed up outside the venue, which caught the eye of “The View” ladies: Neo-Nazis. Allegedly.

Whoopi Goldberg & her loonies on @TheView disparage @TPUSA, comparing young Conservative activists to Nazis

Do you ladies want to tell me to my face that my teenage Daughter and her friends at Turning Point are Neo-Nazis? Email [email protected] if so. #SueTheView pic.twitter.com/OzhDAbP11X

    Facts Are So Overrated

Not one to shy away from taking advantage of a quick talking point, Joy Behar weighed in on the protesters:

“Neo-Nazis were out there in the front of the conference with antisemitic slurs and, you know, the Nazi swastika and a picture of a so-called Jewish person with exaggerated features, just like Goebbels did during the Third Reich. It’s the same thing. Right out of the same playbook.”

TPUSA sent a cease-and-desist letter to “The View,” publicly condemning the Neo-Nazis and saying they were not invited in the first place.

The ladies of “The View” read a disclaimer on the show saying as much.

Joy’s partner in pontification, Whoopi Goldberg, stated:

“But you let them in, and you knew what they were.”

Another disclaimer had to be read, letting the audience know that the protesters were outside the venue, not inside. To which Ms. Goldberg doubled down with this statement:

    “My point was metaphorical.”

    Watch:

While they were forced by their legal department to correct two of these misrepresentations live on air, Whoopi continued to insist that TPUSA somehow welcomed “nazis” into our event “metaphorically.” pic.twitter.com/320UV0aH0G

I’m still waiting to hear where the metaphor was in her statement.

    In TPUSA’s letter, they say:

“The false statements of fact intentionally made during The View’s July 25th segment were unquestionably harmful to TPUSA’s reputation and brought the organization and its student affiliates into disrepute with the public, potential donors, and current and future business partners, posing a significant financial loss to the organization.”

TPUSA gave ABC News a deadline of July 27th to retract the statements and issue a public apology. TPUSA said they are prepared:

“…to promptly take all steps necessary to protect its rights, including pursuing all available legal remedies seeking monetary and non-monetary damages, injunctive relief, and attorneys’ fees and costs.”

TPUSA appears to be taking a page out of Nick Sandmann’s playbook, who filed lawsuits against various media outlets over inaccurate coverage.

This morning “The View” apologized to TPUSA, stating they are sorry if anything they said on Monday “may have been unclear on these points.”

    What Really Happened?

TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet said of the protesters:

“Since these individuals were located on public property, our security attempted to, but was not permitted to remove them. We have no idea who they are or why they were here.”

It’s not surprising that the ladies of “The View” would want to tie Neo-Nazis to any conservative group, in particular, one geared at and run by young Republicans. ABC Action News Political Analyst Dr. Susan McManus said of groups like TPUSA:

“Both the Republican and the Democratic Parties have really growing and strong components. And a lot of that reflects the younger generations and are now replacing the boomers and the older ones. And they’re bringing in a whole different kind of energy, a whole different way of communicating, totally different set of priorities.”

This analysis is well founded, given some of the panels held at the TPUSA summit. For example, Charlie Kirk hosted one with three young Republican political candidates and closed the discussion by saying:

“To the older Republican Party, if you’re watching, your time is up.”

Dr. McManus said that both parties of young people “just want to make the country better.” I certainly hope so, but I also worry, given that I’m fairly certain the younger generation needed to be warned against eating Tide Pods.

However, given the from-the-hip wild comments that come from the round table of women on “The View,” perhaps the Tide Pod generation isn’t the one we need to worry about.

A Track Record of Reckless Rhetoric

Let’s be honest; Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg aren’t strangers to wild commentary. First, Ms. Goldberg was suspended for two weeks over her historically inaccurate comments regarding what the Holocaust was about.

After that, you’d think she would steer clear of any topic remotely associated with the Nazi movement.

Remember when Whoopi Goldberg was *suspended* from The View for defending Adolf Hitler & the Holocaust?

    Watch the disgusting clip below.

Ironic that now Whoopi is under threat of legal action from @TPUSA for defaming 5,000 minors as “Nazis” #suetheview pic.twitter.com/Kyx65mxuw5

    — Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) July 26, 2022

We can’t forget Ms. Behar’s comments shortly after the invasion of Ukraine when she had a ‘woe is me moment’:

“You know, you plan a trip. You want to go there. I want to go to Italy for four years, and I haven’t been able to make it because of the pandemic. And now this. It’s like, ‘What’s gonna happen there?’”

I hope she gets to take that dream trip someday. Hopefully, the people of Ukraine and Putin can dial things back for a bit.

My all-time favorite, though, was when Ms. Behar scolded Senator Tim Scott for not understanding the difference between racism and systemic racism:

“Now, Tim Scott, he does not seem to understand – and a lot of them don’t seem to understand – the difference between a racist country and systemic racism.”

In case you are unaware, Senator Scott is black and often speaks about his experiences growing up poor and black in America. On the other hand, Ms. Behar is white and allegedly funny, although I never quite catch her punchlines.

Perhaps Whoopi and Joy have lost their comedic touch if they ever actually had it. The real punchline is that people still watch this intellectually vapid hour of television.

If I were TPUSA, I wouldn’t accept the mealymouthed apology, but perhaps they shouldn’t waste their time on this joke of a show.
