GOP Donors Twist Arms On ‘DREAMER’ Legislation, ‘Makes Economic Sense’

GOP Donors Twist Arms On ‘DREAMER’ Legislation, ‘Makes Economic Sense’

In the wake of the recent “bipartisan” gun deal being announced, many rank-and-file Republicans are feeling like more often than not, their Republican representatives cave to Democrats on a host of issues they hold dear.

Now, a group of GOP donors are beginning to also smell squishiness, and are pressing Republicans to reach a “deal “with Democrats on illegal immigration, specifically, granting permanent legal immigration status to so-called “Dreamers.”

And more Hispanics are now increasingly voting for the Republicans!

And DACA is becoming a loss for the Democrats! https://t.co/PM7kQHG9J1

A Bit Of Strong Arming Or, Money Talks

A group of roughly 14 Republican donors who billed themselves as “life long Republicans,” will reportedly send a letter to Republican leaders in which they stated that coming to an agreement with Democrats on the status of Dreamers “makes economic sense.”

The letter was written by a group called The American Business Immigration Coalition.

The letter, obtained by Politico, reads in part:

“Improving border security and providing a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers is not only morally right; it is also absolutely crucial to addressing labor shortages, reducing food prices and creating jobs for all American families.”

Well, traitor Republicans Cornyn and Tillis are in talks w the Dems to provide a pathway to citizenship for “Dreamers” as our border has been decimated and our country is being invaded. Just unbelievable. #DACA https://t.co/PYkUuUVrTc

Is There A Divide Between GOP and Their Constituents?

While not every average Republican voter may like Donald Trump or want him to run again in 2024, what a large portion of them do seem to want are those that they elect and send to Washington D.C. to have some backbone, and not cave to Democrats’ every whim.

In years past, the GOP may have been about strong national defense, limited government, and traditional social conservatism. But since at least the Obama era, immigration has been a front-and-center issue.

For GOP voters, if it isn’t Trump, they want someone who supports Trump’s “America First” agenda, especially on immigration and trade. Right now however, that doesn’t seem to be what GOP voters are getting.

In April, a committee of two Democrats and two Republicans, Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) began new talks about immigration reform, which has become just a euphemism for increased immigration and some form of amnesty.

It’s Republicans like these that the aforementioned group of GOP donors thinks could be swayed. A signatory of the letter, John Rowe, told Politico:

“Until the election is over, they’re going to be a very low-risk group and so we’ll just keep hammering away at them. I don’t think the real issue is persuading McConnell and Cornyn … I think the real issue is in showing them it’s safe to have a little courage.”

Republican voters may not refer to it as “courage.”

“Bipartisan” often just means the Republicans cave to Democrat demands yet again. Notice “bipartisan” doesn’t get used very much, if at all, when the GOP is in power…

Time To Make A Choice For GOP

While the Mitch McConnells and the Mitt Romneys of the Republican Party inexplicably keep getting re-elected, it is Ohio GOP Senate candidate J.D. Vance who may have very clearly laid it out recently for Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

    He said:

“So while Republicans keep on sending people to Washington, we keep on winning elections in the Republican Party, we don’t get the policy that we want, and we don’t get the policy we deserve because we keep sending basically scumbags who listen to the donors more than they do to their own voters. That is one of the reasons I am running. I think we finally need to have some Republicans who are not terrified of being called bad names by the media and are going to stand up for our own voters, our own people.”

That sums up how a lot of Republican voters feel.
