Dolly Parton Gets Slammed As ‘Racist’ Over New Book

Fans of Dolly Parton are angry about claims of racism that came out after the release of her new book. Fans were angry after someone said she was “racist” because of a snippet in her new book, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage.

Some fans were upset by a part of Dolly’s new book, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage, where the 79-year-old singer talked about a time in her childhood in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Dolly Parton Recovering From Health Issues & Heartbreak

Dolly Parton’s beloved best friend & husband died in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this year at the age of 82. The couple was married for almost 60 years. They met when Parton was 18 and got married in 1966. Dolly’s health does seem to have suffered since his passing. Her sister announced the 79-year-old just needed some rest.

Dolly, who has just recovered from health problems, talked about her childhood in Sevierville, Tennessee, where her theme park, Dollywood, is located. But one part of the book didn’t sit well with some readers, who took to social media to express their anger about it. Dolly did have fans defending her as well. Reminding others how much she has done for the community. Dolly grew up poor in Tennessee; she was the fourth of 12 children. Her massive family lived in a one-room cabin in the Smoky Mountains.

A snippet from her childhood from her book outraged her fans one fan said:

“I returned itI’m gonna be sick. I’m literally in tears.”

Dolly Parton Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Book

“I’m five minutes into Dolly Parton’s new book, she said: I watched my uncle say racist things, and get in trouble, I “learned what not to say”. He was such a good respectful person. I don’t know what to do.”

“This is what happens when people put a white woman on a pedestal.A white woman born in Tennessee in 1946?!? I don’t know why y’all had hope that she was doing anything other than cosplaying as a good person.A white woman born in 1946 Tennessee that’s in country music?? Y’all were seriously fooling yourselves into thinking she was really a good person.”

Fans are going nuts over Dolly Parton’s new book, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage, calling her a racist..she has some of her fans in tears after the first 5 minutes in and returning the book. lol I’m sorry, but come on.. although some fans did defend her, some of her fan base… pic.twitter.com/bX2wZ6MPmE

Others defended Dolly, “Lord have mercy. Trashing Dolly. I’m afraid the world may end today. Dolly is no racist.”

“You are reading way, way too much into this. If Dolly Parton isn’t good enough for you, no white person ever will be.”

One commenter reminded fans that she donated all of her royalties from “I Will Always Love You’ to those who needed it most.

“She also donated all the royalties from Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’ cover to poor mostly black neighborhoods in TN, while also single-handesly spearheading and funding the literacy campaign known as imagination library. I haven’t read the book, but her record stands on business.”

Dolly Parton Has Shown Huge Support For The Black Community

Dolly has also secretly paid for music equipment and programs for struggling high schools, most of which were Black, for decades. In 2020, she also publicly supported the Black Lives Matter movement. Dolly has always shown that she is committed to racial equality and helping black communities and all communities.
