‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Male Execs Hate Opening Scene, Want Change

It has been revealed that male execs of Grey’s Anatomy hated the opening scene and wanted it changed. This is shocking for fans to hear, as the opening scene is one of the most iconic. It set the mood for the entire series. However, it seems the males in the room did not approve of it and wanted something different to happen. There is a lot to unfold and uncover. Keep reading to find out more about this.

Grey’s Anatomy Starts Series In An Iconic Way

Grey’s Anatomy has been around for a long time. Right now, they are airing Season 22. Fans have loved the series since it first came out. Season 1, Episode 1 starts out like no other. Meredith Grey wakes up realizing she slept with Derek Shepard. In the morning, she had to rush to her first day of work at the hospital. However, while there, she realizes that the man she slept with the night prior was her boss. Things were immediately awkward, and the show went on from there.

Male Execs Hate Opening, Wanted It Changed

It has been revealed that the male execs of the show did not like the opening scene and wanted it changed. This is something that shocked a lot of people. However, they all had their opinions on it. Shonda Rhimes revealed:

“I got called into a room with a bunch of people who said, ‘You can’t put a woman on television who had sex with a guy the night before she started work,’ Because they said no woman does that, and the kind of woman who does is really trashy. There were all these old men in the room, and I had no idea how to respond.”

They ended up getting it to be the opening scene after another woman named Betsy helped her. They thought it was how the show needed to start. However, the guys did not agree.

It seems as though they did not like the opening scene where Meredith wakes up from sleeping with Derek and then goes to work and finds out he is her boss. They did not like this as it “never happens” and made her look “trashy”. Shonda disagreed, and so did Betsy. So, the two ended up getting their way, and this is good since it is something fans love about the show.
