‘The Valley’ Janet Caperna Near Death Caused Weight Loss

The Valley star Janet Caperna is opening up about how a near-death experience caused extreme weight loss. She had previously dropped pounds at the end of Season 2, but what was so severe that she almost died? Keep reading for all of the details.

Janet Caperna Lost Weight, Almost Died

For Season 1 of The Valley, Janet Caperna was pregnant with her first child, which caused her to be insufferable. Viewers struggled to connect with the former Vanderpump Rules fangirl and felt that she used her pregnancy to be cruel to her friends. This drama carried over to Season 2, and she and her husband, Jason, were often targets as well as unwelcome. They were gossiped about, and many wondered why they were still on the hit Bravo series. Again, she seemed to only be on the show because she started out as a super fan.

Things got so bad with bullying that she was scared for herself and her family. Yet, in Season 2, she showcased a whole new look. Janet slimmed down and attributed it to Adderall and Pilates. Now, she has dropped even more weight, but it was not by choice. She spoke out on The Side of the Hill podcast, which was released Friday, January 16th, 2026. There, Janet Caperna explained that she had dropped 20 pounds due to a health crisis, having been in such immense pain, she headed to the hospital. The ultimate diagnosis was acute gastritis, but it was torture:

“It was almost two full weeks of constant pain, throwing up, and unable to eat, which led me to lose almost 20 pounds.”

The Valley star looks like she has been through a very rough time and admitted it will take time to get back to where she once was. At 5’9 and 113 pounds, Janet knows that she needs to work on gaining weight. Despite what she has been through and all of the pain, Janet is not letting it get her down. She wants to go through this on the upside, which is inspiring to hear.

    Love & Support

As hard as this has been for The Valley star, she has received nothing but love and support throughout it all. Janet Caperna’s husband, Jason, has even chimed in to tell her how unbelievable she has been during this ordeal. Fans and followers have also expressed praise for the Los Angeles, California, reality star and her transparency at this time:

    • Praying you continue to feel better ❤️‍🩹 Get as much rest as possible 🙏🏽
    • no more adderall and Pilates 😂 glad you’re feeling better! Wish I could give you 20 of my pounds 😂
    • Feel better Janet ❤️ sorry to hear you are so unwell 😢 sending love from Aus. I recommend all the Pasta 🍝

Janet did limit the comments on the post, so it is clear that there is still a lot of hatred toward her, which is sad. Hopefully, she feels better very soon, and The Valley fans can see her thriving.
