When Calls the Heart is about to return for a thirteenth season. However, one of the series’ stars, Chris McNally, just shared big news with fans. This also comes out as some of the other cast members also had exciting news to share.
Chris McNally Joined When Calls The Heart Back In 2019
As an actor, McNally is best known for playing Lucas Bouchard on Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. He first joined the series in early 2019.
Working as an actor and writer, McNally has also been involved with a number of Hallmark projects. These include A Winter Princess, The Sweetest Heart, and Rocky Mountain Christmas.
McNally recently appeared at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in early December 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was joined by fellow cast members Erin Krakow, Ben Rosenbaum, and Kevin McGarry. Notably, all of them are expecting their first children, with Krakow and Rosenbaum marrying back in May and McGarry marrying former WCTH star Kayla Wallace in September 2024.
During the event, McNally also had some big news to share; he is expecting his second child with his girlfriend, Julie Gonzalo. The couple had welcomed their first child back in June 2022.
In a share on Instagram, McNally could be heard sharing, “There was something going on with our caterers. I don’t know if you guys knew this, but they were giving us something and we didn’t know at the time, but it’s not one, not two, but there’s three coming… When we all look exhausted, you know why.” The actor could also be seen sharing sonogram photos at the event, having pulled them out of his pocket.

Over the years, Gonzalo has also become known for appearing in a number of Hallmark projects. She is also known for her work on Veronica Mars, Dallas, Supergirl, Eli Stone, Freaky Friday, and A Cinderella Story.
The news is also timely. This comes out right ahead of When Calls the Heart returning for a thirteenth season. Fans can watch the season premiere on January 4, 2026, at 8 PM ET. Episodes should be available for streaming the day after on Hallmark+
