Harry’s real wife has been mentioned a few times in Resident Alien, and although the sci-fi dramedy has never canonically revealed the offscreen character, there’s a moment in season 1 that could quietly confirm what she looks like. As the leader of the Resident Alien cast, it’s long been up to Alan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigle to represent his species as the only member of his race within the show so far. There is an argument for Bridget, but Harry’s child is actually half-human. Regardless, Harry’s race is out there somewhere, so there are other aliens like him.
I think it’s important to point out that Harry’s wife in this respect doesn’t refer to Isabelle, Elvy’s Resident Alien character. Isabelle was married to another of Alan Tudyk’s Resident Alien characters – the original, human, Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle. Instead, who I’m discussing here is the alien with whom the show’s primary character once shared a strong connection and fathered many children. She hasn’t influenced the story all that much, but the show hasn’t completely ignored her either.
The Dream Intro In “Birds Of A Feather” Reveals A Female Alien Who Could Be Harry’s Late Wife
The alien on the porch is a rare of example of Resident Alien showing another member of Harry’s species
“Birds of a Feather” begins with a humorous homage to sitcom-style opening sequences, showing Harry in his alien form (but wearing human clothes), being welcomed around Patience by other residents of the town. It ultimately turns out to be Harry’s dream, but the other alien waiting for him at his imagined home with a bow on her head is strongly implied to be Harry’s wife. Because it’s all unfolding in Harry’s mind, it’s not unreasonable to assume that is what the character looked like before she died – parodic outfit notwithstanding.

Harry’s Real Name In Resident Alien Is So Weird, The Show Didn’t Even Have The Courage To Use It
The Resident Alien comics give Harry a different real name than is revealed in the show, and it makes perfect sense why the change was made.
Harry has mentioned to Asta before that he misses his wife, although he has since gone on to clarify since the reveal that he’s an alien that his species doesn’t actually have different genders. As such, Harry’s “wife” is essentially just his mating partner. It’s also been established that the alien who births the many offspring dies during the process, so although Harry has over 300 children out there somewhere in the galaxy, their other parent is no longer alive. Interestingly, the late alien could have already appeared in season 1, episode 4, “Birds of a Feather.”
I Believe The Presence Of Another Resident Alien Character In Harry’s Dream Confirms My Theory
D’arcy is the only confirmed “real” character in Harry’s dream
Almost everyone in Harry’s dream sequence is just a random unknown person. However, the presence of Alice Wetterlund’s D’arcy Bloom lends credence to the theory that Harry isn’t just populating the scenario with strangers. Just as his subconscious places D’arcy behind the bar because it makes sense to do so, he may have generated an image of his late wife waiting for him at home as his mind becomes ever more human. Without D’arcy being there, it would have been far more believable that Resident Alien had just included a false member of Harry’s race.
