Nope Cast Reacts To Theories For Jordan Peele Movie In Hilarious Video

In a hilarious new video, the cast of Jordan Peele’s Nope react to popular fan theories regarding the mysterious upcoming sci-fi horror film.

The cast of Nope react to fan theories about Jordan Peele’s mysterious new movie. After the release of Get Out in 2017, Peele quickly became one of the foremost names working in horror cinema today. Peele’s follow-up film Us also proved successful, and his next project, Nope, is due out next week. The film is said to follow the residents of a lonely California community as they make a disturbing discovery. After the two previously worked together on Get Out, Nope is set to reunite Peele with star Daniel Kaluuya.

Much remains unknown about Nope and the film’s marketing has been as mysterious as its premise. Trailers for the film have teased some of Kaluuya’s co-stars, including Keke Palmer, Brandon Perea, Steven Yeun, and Michael Wincott, among others, and have also hinted that aliens will play a major role in the story. Unlike his previous films, both of which were generally smaller in scope and scale, Nope appears to see Peele delving more into sci-fi visual effects spectacle, with the trailers featuring what appears to be a large flying saucer.

In a hilarious new video segment with Vanity Fair, Kaluuya, Palmer, Yeun, and Perea react to fan theories regarding what Nope is about and what secrets may be hidden in the film’s marketing. While still not giving away too much about the actual film, the group shuts down several interesting theories, including one claiming that film involves an element of time travel and another wondering if Palmer’s character is based on MMA fighter Angela Hill. Check out the funny video below:

As with Us before it, Nope‘s marketing has created an aura of mystery surrounding the film, with details of its plot and characters being left up to the imagination. This method has clearly led to some interesting fan theories, many of which are based on small moments in the film’s trailers that are perceived to have deeper meanings. One popular theory involves the film’s title itself, with fans guessing that Nope could be an acronym for “Not Of Planet Earth,” a theory that Yeun and Kaluuya find interesting, but that Palmer flat-out rejects.

Both Get Out and Us were widely praised for their social commentary and their explorations of complex racial and social themes, but it’s currently unclear if Nope will follow this trend. Peele’s movies have been at the forefront of what many call “Elevated Horror,” a somewhat divisive term used to describe horror films with deeper meanings and a focus on more dramatic elements over perceived cheap scares. Many fans clearly believe that Nope will have plenty of interesting themes and ideas hiding beneath the sci-fi alien scares on the surface, but the cast is clearly trying to preserve as much of the mystery as possible before the film’s release next week.
