Prime Video’s New Spy Thriller Is A Weekend Must-Watch (Now Trending Worldwide)

Prime Video subscribers have an exciting new release to watch this weekend on the platform, and it tells a spy story with plenty of twists. In recent years, spy thrillers have become quite popular among the many streaming services out there, particularly in terms of TV shows. Among the best recent spy series are Slow Horses, The Night Agent, The Agency, and more.

When it comes to the movie side, there have also been some recent hits, both in theaters and on streaming, to come from the genre. Michael Fassbender’s Black Bag is one of them, with Tom Cruise also starring in two Mission: Impossible films. Now, a new Prime Video Original movie offers another story in the genre, and it is already finding success.

Agent Zeta was released on Prime Video on March 20. As such, the Spanish spy thriller has not even been out on the streaming service for a week at the time of writing. However, it did not take long for it to become a global success. According to FlixPatrol, Agent Zeta is currently the 2nd most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide.

The only film to beat it on the streamer’s global chart is the Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson sci-fi thriller Mercy, which arrived on Prime Video on March 22. While Agent Zeta is not among the streaming service’s most-watched movies in the United States, the Prime Video spy thriller is trending in 49 countries. In 25 of them, it is Prime Video’s #1 movie.

Why Prime Video’s Agent Zeta Is Worth Watching

With Agent Zeta‘s worldwide success and the fact that the movie has yet to become popular in the United States, it currently stands as the perfect hidden gem on the platform for nationwide viewers. The Spanish spy thriller follows Mario Casas as the title agent, who is charged with investigating the mysterious simultaneous murders of four former Spanish intelligence agents involved in the same operation.

Zeta has to find a surviving member of the group to figure out who is behind the murders and why. That creates a high-stakes scenario for the new Prime Video movie, with a ton of flashbacks helping piece together what happened in the past and how that impacts Zeta’s current mission. For fans of movies with multiple timelines, this one relies on that narrative mechanism.

3 Best Movies To Watch On Prime Video This Weekend (#1 Stars A The Boys Fan-Favorite)

Prime Video subscribers will have the time of their lives with these three intense movies available to watch on the streaming service this weekend.

Zeta has a fun rivalry with Mariela Garriga’s Alfa, who acts in the interest of the Colombian government. Their attempts at one-upping one another while running their own investigations add to the film’s intrigue. At the time of writing, Agent Zeta‘s critics’ score and audience score have yet to be revealed by Rotten Tomatoes. However, Agent Zeta‘s streaming success shows audiences find it worth checking out.
