The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are entertaining, whether the women are home or on vacation. Some of their trips are more dramatic than others.
The women on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills may be known for being one-part high maintenance and one-part dramatic, but nothing brings conflict faster than each season’s group vacation. There are several things that Bravo viewers look forward to with each new Real Housewives season, including each woman’s introductory tagline, confessional looks, and choice of a luxurious girl’s trip. Whether the ladies of RHOBH are traveling halfway around the world or simply flying into another part of California, fans of the franchise know there will always be drama in store.
In fact, some of the most repeated conflicts on RHOBH cast trips are actually found throughout the entire Real Housewives franchise. Whether viewers are tuning into RHOBH, The Real Housewives of New York City, or The Real Housewives of Orange County, to name a few, the women on each season always find themselves arguing over room assignments more than anything else. Even when the ladies are enjoying beautifully rich shopping trips or having their every need catered to by staff, viewers can always find the housewives ready to bicker about something. Not all arguments are as silly, however.
Just like their over-the-top accommodations and activities, every vacation on RHOBH seems to feature some sort of conflict that somehow finds its way to rope in the entire group. Whether two women embroiled in a feud that started back home in Beverly Hills still find themselves at odds, or the group has unresolved tensions that need to be talked about, some trips have provided more dramatic entertainment than others. Either way, their first-class excursions have always included a wealth of dramatic blow-ups.
5. Fajardo, Puerto Rico (Season 4)
Although the RHOBH season 4 cast trip to Fajardo got off on the wrong foot before the plane even took off (one-time housewife Carlton Gebbia didn’t even attend), the women were focused on enjoying their time relaxing and exploring Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for Yolanda Hadid, Kyle Richards, and Kyle’s sister Kim Richards to gang up on Lisa Vanderpump concerning tabloid rumors and Kyle’s husband Mauricio Umansky. When Brandi Glanville jumped in with her own accusations, LVP and her husband, Ken Todd, left the vacation early. While this trip on RHOBH season 4 stood out for its beautiful location and lavish accommodations, it will also remembered as being unnecessarily dramatic.
4. Bear Creek, Colorado (Season 2)
Although this infamous moment of Taylor Armstrong breaking down in Colorado later gave way to the “woman yelling at a cat” meme, the RHOBH season 2 cast trip to Camille Grammer’s holiday villa ended up being anything but funny. Before the women even landed in Colorado, Kim’s manic behavior had viewers questioning whether Kyle’s sister was all right, especially considering their bombshell limo fight during the season 1 finale. Once the women got settled into Camille’s seven-room abode, the energy quickly began to shift as Taylor’s marital issues with the late Russell Armstrong reared their ugly head. With Taylor’s personal life unraveling behind the scenes, the other housewives could only stand by and awkwardly watch Taylor’s erratic and emotional outbursts. Although the women enjoyed some activities in Colorado, the RHOBH season 2 trip to the mountains was a dramatic fail from early on.
3. Rome, Italy (Season 10)
The RHOBH season 10 cast trip to Rome, which occurred just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, was one of those unique Real Housewives situations where the history among the women and context is necessary to understand the full scope of what happened during this trip. While Denise Richards had a pretty successful first season when she joined RHOBH season 9, the women quickly grew tired of Denise not wanting to discuss certain topics or partake in conversations. Things only got worse when Brandi told Kyle, Kim, and Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave that she had been intimate with Denise, which Teddi eventually repeated in front of everyone while the group was enjoying a high-end Italian dinner. The ensuing drama lasted throughout the rest of the season. Denise vehemently denied Brandi’s admission, and even threatened Bravo producers with a cease and desist order to keep the footage from airing. Denise had problems with all of the women, particularly her then-longtime friend Lisa Rinna. The filming of this trip ended up having extreme real-world consequences.
2. Hong Kong (Season 7)
One of the most interesting aspects of the second RHOBH season 7 cast trip, which was to Hong Kong, is that the women had a relatively drama-free time until the final evening. Although tensions between Erika Jayne and Dorit Kemsley had been growing throughout the season, the luxurious ambiance of Hong Kong, coupled with the group’s constant outings, stopped the two from arguing for most of the trip until all the women boarded a “junk boat” on the last night, where Erika and Dorit proceeded to battle it out with harsh words from both sides. Things got worse when the women went to dinner. First Lisa asked Dorit if people were doing drugs in her bathroom. Then Erika shockingly berated Eileen Davidson after Eileen unsuspectingly mentioned Erika’s child, a 28-year-old police officer. What originally started as a fun vacation ended as one of the most dramatic outings across all RHOBH seasons.
1. Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Season 5)
This ranking would be incomplete without paying homage to the RHOBH season 5 cast trip to Amsterdam. Yolanda, who was born and raised in a small Dutch town, invited all the women to meet her family and explore the unique culture of the Netherlands. From checking out the red-light district to riding bikes throughout the countryside, this infamous Amsterdam vacation during RHOBH season 5 featured not just a plethora of activities, but also memorable arguments that have gone down in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills history. Besides Kim battling everyone except for Brandi at the dinner table, Brandi also had several conflicts of her own, primarily with Kyle. While there have been plenty of difficult cast trips since the ladies traveled to Amsterdam in 2014, it’ll be hard to for the current cast of RHOBH to ever provide a more dramatic vacation.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
