Donald Trump is calling on the new Congress to hold hearings and issue subpoenas in order to investigate the FBI’s role in using Twitter to control information and sway elections.
Trump issued the demand in a newly released campaign video.
In it, the Republican candidate for President cites the recent ‘Twitter Files’ document drops – repeated releases of the Big Tech company’s internal files by Elon Musk, which show intimate coordination between the intelligence community and Twitter officials to control the narrative around elections – as a reason to pursue investigations.
Those files, Trump states, “have proven beyond all doubt that the corrupt officials at the FBI have been coordinating a massive censorship, surveillance, and propaganda campaign against the American people.”
“The new Congress should immediately hold hearings to investigate the role of the FBI and other federal agencies in censoring lawful speech,” Trump advised.
“Congressional leaders should promptly issue subpoenas in furtherance of this goal.”

Trump’s campaign video calling for an investigation into potential collusion between the FBI and Twitter comes on the same day Republicans on the House Oversight Committee requested that Twitter employees testify regarding the suppression of the Hunter Biden story.
House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) sent letters to Twitter employees asking them to testify in early February about censorship of the bombshell story that could have changed the minds of many voters.

“The story of the laptop from hell is only the beginning of the story about the weaponization of government against free speech,” Trump said in his video.
“We must have free speech in our country, we must have a fair and open press.”
Comer also sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen asking the department to provide any “suspicious activity reports” that involve the President’s son and other business associates.

Trump Heralds Elon Musk a Free Speech Hero
The former President has referenced the ‘Twitter Files’ in the past and even heralded Elon Musk as a free speech hero for revealing the coordination between Twitter and the FBI, DHS, and DNC in creating propaganda through the omission of opposing viewpoints.
“Elon Musk did a big service when he released all of this stuff. Because our country is corrupt,” said Trump during an interview with One America News Network last month. “Our elections are corrupt.”
“Yeah, I’d say he’s a hero. I think that it’s a big part of his legacy,” he added. “I think it’s more important than other things he’s done.”

In one of his first campaign videos for 2024, Trump announced a free speech policy platform that seeks to ‘dismantle and destroy’ left-wing censorship.
“If we don’t have free speech, then we just don’t have a free country,” he said. “It’s as simple as that.”
He proceeded to explain that if the right to free speech is eradicated in America, all other rights will soon follow.

Trump also promised to “ban federal money from being used to label domestic speech as ‘mis-‘ or ‘dis-information.’”
The FBI and other federal officials did that with Twitter applying it to both the Hunter Biden scandal and COVID information.
Subpoenas need to start flying. It’s not good enough to request testimony, it must be compelled.
