Trent Johnston Death Hoax
TLC viewers have watched the Johnston children grow up during the show’s fifteen seasons. Two of their five children are married with lives of their own. The close-knit family based in Forsyth, Georgia, has had their share of medical problems.
All seven of the Johnstons, including the five children, have achondroplasia dwarfism. The family patriarch, Trent, has had numerous surgeries and ongoing health issues.
His constant medical problems are a strain on the family. News circulated on social media recently that the reality star had passed away from his medical problems.
But it was a hoax. The TLC star is still alive, but mourning a tragic family loss.
Emma Johnston Shares Another Tragic Family Death
The Johnstons lost a huge part of their family. Trent’s mother, Mary Alice Maddox Johnston, passed away on Saturday, October 4. Liz Johnston shared a heartbreaking tribute to her grandmother.
Liz’s sister, Emma, took to Instagram to share her own tribute to her “Nana.”
“Our nana is in heaven with poppy watching over all of us 🕊️ (we love you and I miss you sm,)” she wrote on social media.
Her “Poppy,” Walter “Pete” Lawrence Johnston, passed away last year. Emma Johnston included a video of one of her final moments with her “Nana.” Emma lovingly painted her grandma’s nails when she was in a hospital bed.

As Emma said in her post, the family finds solace in their believe that “Nana” and “Poppy” are reunited in Heaven. There has been tension in the Johnston family for a while, which has been addressed in previous seasons and the new season. But a huge loss like this will only bring the family together.
