Kelly Ripa Breaks Silence On Drastic Voice Change

Kelly Ripa has been doing her talk show for many years. As that is the case, viewers have been hearing her speak for all of that time. Recently, she spoke out about what is behind her drastic voice change. So, what did she have to say about it?

Kelly Ripa Has Been On Television Screens For Decades

Many viewers have gotten used to seeing Kelly Ripa on their television screens for decades. Whether it was her career prior to having a successful talk show, or in the years since, she has been a fixture for many people for all of that time.

Over the years, people have gotten used to hearing the sound of her voice. More and more of late, fans have been pointing out that Ripa’s voice appears to be drastically different now than how it used to be. Some even wonder if she is dealing with some kind of medical condition that has caused this. Either way, viewers are equal parts curious and concerned when it comes to their favorite host.

Ripa Opens Up About Her Voice

For someone who essentially makes a living from their speaking voice, Kelly Ripa is surprisingly “uncomfortable” with her own. It’s natural for a lot of people to be weirded out by how their voice sounds, especially when they hear it back on a recording.

For as long as Kelly has been using her voice to make a living, even she seems to not like how her own voice sounds. In this aspect, Ripa is not alone. She noted during a recent show that how our voice is perceived in our hearing organs and the psychological and social pressures associated with how someone speaks certainly play a role.

Kelly Ripa Opens Up About Voice Change

Ripa also noted that one of her children might send her an old clip from years ago, and even she notices that her voice was different. However, the way Kelly sees it, there is a reason for that.

Ripa went on to say: “It’s very interesting. Oftentimes, my daughter will send me a video of me on this show from 20 years ago or me in a clip from Hope & Faith. And yes, I know I was younger so I sound younger. But, also, I believe that a certain amount of that was terror.”

Ripa went on to add that when she first started with her current gig many years ago, she “was terrified.” So, she naturally spoke in a higher octave. By comparison, a lot of viewers note that she tends to speak in a lower octave these days.
