What To Know
- Happy’s Place stars and real-life couple Reba McEntire and Rex Linn tease what’s next for Bobbie and Emmett in Season 3.
- Plus, what the arrival of James Denton’s character JB will do to their dynamic in the titular bar.
Happy’s Place is back, and things are awkward between exes Bobbie (Reba McEntire) and Emmett (Rex Linn), who are still learning how to work alongside each other after their breakup. Warning: Spoilers for the Happy’s Place Season 3 Premiere!
It’s a process, but the Season 3 premiere sees the former couple take steps in the right direction after realizing space isn’t what they need in their relationship. “I love how they’ve got us coming back to at least speaking terms and making an agreement to not have space anymore,” Linn tells TV Insider.
All of this ongoing recalibration takes place amid Isabella’s (Belissa Escobedo) creation of her own speakeasy mocktail bar, leaving Bobbie feeling lonelier than normal as she misses her newfound sister. And as Linn so expertly points out, the reconnection occurring between Bobbie and Emmett is just a new chapter in their years-long friendship.
“Before Bobbie and Emmett were together, we were working in that same establishment for years and years and years without any of this other thing going on,” Linn says. “So, that [relationship] went on and then it didn’t work, at least for now. And so I thought it brought a great angle to the show.”

As for whether or not fans should be rooting for a rekindling romance between Bobbie and Emmett, McEntire says, “Oh, absolutely, I’ll always be rooting for him.” But she adds, “Last season, Emmett had Monica, and so that was Bobbie on the sideline, and now this season James Denton becomes a love interest for Bobbie [and] that leaves Emmett in the kitchen…”
In other words, McEntire says, “We don’t know how that’s gonna unfold, but it’s certainly interesting.” Denton’s casting was announced earlier in October, as he’ll play a patron named JB.
While the real-life couple plays coy about what’s next for their onscreen characters, Linn teases, “I don’t know what’s gonna happen with Bobbie and Emmett, but I think Emmett’s sadder than Bobbie is about this old breakup. I think he’s a little bit more hurt than she is.”
When it comes to a potential reunion, Linn adds, “I don’t know if it’s gonna be good for the show if we get back together, but secretly, I’m hoping we do.” Us too!
